  1. Yikes! Will be making sure my kids know this, not sure we've talked about it with all of them. This thread might be injury-prevention!
  2. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's suspicious of the authenticity of the note. :glare: I hate to think the worst of people, but that note is awfully convenient.
  3. Amazon owns Book Depository. So they'd still be getting your business. ;)
  4. We use the Ikea Trofast drawers and sort by colour. Like this, but we don't have this many: http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/organizing-legos-part-3-creating.html It's really easy to maintain and really easy to find pieces. The kids helped with the initial sort. We have one drawer for minifigures. One drawer for instructions. I keep a bowl on top to throw in assorted pieces when we are cleaning up the room, when the bowl gets full we sort it. Legos have been used so much more in our house since we set this up because they are so accessible. I did find that the drawers *need* labels to keep it all organised and make the pieces easy to find.
  5. This one is beautiful but I have no idea if it will suit your needs. I copied the image into Publisher and made it into a full page for our notebooks, it turned out well. http://astromic.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/whats-mystery-about-pyramids-of-giza.html ETA: scroll to the bottom of the page.
  6. It's gotta be one of the best thread titles ever, especially since it wasn't done purposefully!
  7. I just watched this. It aired a few days ago so we aren't too far behind the US. I hope Beckett doesn't get fired over something to do with Castle, she'd resent him and how could the show recover from that? I was annoyed with him for going to the golf course. I know it fits his goofy character but that was over the line. At the end when he's searching the web for 'dreamworld' and the agents came in, I thought they knew he'd searched and that's why they came! But that would have been awfully fast. I thought the end was a good plot twist, but not suspenseful since we know he can't die. Just like the 'standing on a bomb' episode where we knew she couldn't die. I'm trying to figure out who Caskett is. Help?
  8. All you Americans, anyway. They are called ZipBind and are made by GBC, makers of the Proclick. They work with 19-hole binding machines. I was researching spines for my new Clickman (the A4 version of the Proclick) and came across these. I don't see these available for A4 which would be 21-hole. http://www.mybinding.com/.sc/ms/cat/Binding%20Supplies--GBC%20ZipBind So if you have a comb binder and have been hesitating to spend the money on a Proclick, this may be your solution. :hurray: You can easily add/remove pages from something already bound. Loving my new Clickman! (Cross-post from general board.)
  9. I'm so glad you are pregnant! And I'm so glad you're miserable if that means this is a viable pregnancy! Now that didn't help at all, did it? :D It really won't last forever, and your kids will survive, and that little one will be such a blessing for your family!
  10. I feel old nowadays anytime I have to get up off the floor! ;)
  11. Oh! I have this series on my nightstand right now, I just picked it up from the library today! I read the short story that was free on Kindle and was completely hooked. I'm looking forward to reading them. I got all three at the same time because I knew I would want to blast through them. :)
  12. A friend with a spitty baby keeps a stash of baby bandanas in her bag, she goes through many a day. They're cute and would make a great gift. http://www.etsy.com/search?q=Baby%20bandana&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ

  14. I'm disappointed that the other librarian who sees you every week didn't speak up with 'Oh, don't worry, she's one of our regulars!' or something along those lines. You'll have to come back and tell us if you have any further interaction with her!
  15. HH was my thought when I saw the thread title. It's not cartoons, though, and some can be gory. You can see clips on youtube. :bigear: for any other rec's.
  16. I think we are all just wondering how you can say you are 'broke until a week from Friday and that's scary to me' when you knew you'd written those checks. If you'd forgotten about one of them, or thought it had already cleared your account, then we'd all understand more- it would be scary to suddenly realise you have $1000 less than you thought you had. But you knew those checks were outstanding and could go through anytime so you shouldn't be at all surprised. I hope you don't have any more outstanding checks. Agreeing that landlords had every right to cash the checks at the same time despite your previous request. They could have forgotten, but most likely they are just making sure they get their funds and that you hadn't written a bad check before leaving. Landlords get burned all the time.
  17. I second the towel suggestion! Wrap kitty up tight so that all you can see is his head. :)
  18. There's a note at the top of the blog post saying she was asked by AAL to remove the files, but it doesn't say when so I don't know how recently she removed them. It would be smart of AAL to offer their tiles as a downloadable option so people could make their own. I bet many users who are dissatisfied with the tiles would love that option and be willing to pay for it. Better yet, they should make that stinkin' app that they said they were going to make, then not going to make, then maybe make...I forget the current status. ;) I would love to be able to do spelling outside on nice days but still use the tiles, and have different configurations for each kid.
  19. We've been talking about getting a drum set and wondering where to put it, hadn't thought of the garage! That sounds perfect. Wondering about the weather though, we have a detached garage, is the set affected by warm/cold? Sorry for the hijack!
  20. For our volcano we used salt dough molded around a jar. Obviously we left the opening of the jar uncovered but you could easily cover it (keeping the lid on) and use jars of different heights to get the shape you want. We painted the salt dough brown (and then added orange for lava!). You could use different colours and add rocks, moss, etc. to get a more realistic effect. Salt dough is easier for me than paper mache, YMMV.
  21. When I've tried to use Taxact it wouldn't let me file electronically, I had to print and send. I think because our AGI and tax owed were zero, it wouldn't let me override it. Really frustrating. Am I missing something? Maybe I'll try again and contact them for help. There should be a way to override it.
