  1. I'm scared to look! :001_unsure: I have some of it copied to a spreadsheet, I'll have to make sure to do that everytime. Or use the Amazon button as someone mentioned above.
  2. They just had a back to school sale in July. I believe it was 10% off and free shipping over a certain amount- $150? I was ordering the VP timeline cards as well as other items so was able to get free shipping to relatives in the USA who will forward to me. I got all three cycles so I only have to do it once. :)
  3. Anyone have a link? Or a list to share? Thanks! We are starting SOTW1 in a few months and I want to tie these in. :)
  4. Five weeks! To Australia, that is. :tongue_smilie: That also includes the privilege of paying 20% shipping...if I order more than $500. :glare:
  5. For elementary age, especially lower elementary. I've been looking at the Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia of World Geography With Complete World Atlas. (Phew!):tongue_smilie: I like all the information included but I'm not thrilled with the maps themselves, to me it is difficult to see the country borders. (Difficult, not impossible.) I've got it from the library right now. I could live with it but before I spend the $$ I thought I'd ask!
  6. I second this. If you are interested in the Montessori approach this is very much a step-by-step guide. Easy to implement at home and very gentle.
  7. Thank you for your answer! I'm just getting ready to start this with my 6yo. I don't intend for my 4yo to join us for this right now, he has only just turned four and isn't consistent in his interest in "doing school" so I'm not pushing him at all. I was really just thinking ahead to when my 4yo is older and ready for this, I would really rather not buy the whole thing over again. I also don't want to violate the copyright. Really wish you could just buy or download the workbook by itself! Otherwise I'll end up with more copies of the cd than I need and I imagine that's part of what makes this consumable workbook cost so much.
  8. It looks like it isn't reproducible, do I really have to buy the workbook+cd for each of my kids? I'd rather buy it once and then just the workbook. Awfully expensive for something that's consumable!!
  9. :lurk5: Also interested! I'm wondering about the reading portion too.
  10. :bigear: Thinking about ordering the Ancient Civilizations one to go with SOTW1. If I do, I'll probably get the pdf version so that I can print out as needed for each child.
  11. Thanks for this, it really helped me understand better what I'm looking at. Haven't seen any of those folders in Australia, I'll have to take a look around! I suppose you could use divider pages that have pockets on them, they just wouldn't be clear.
  12. Are you filling their binders every night with the next day's work? Or does the binder contain more than one day's work at a time? Kind of like a workbox system but in a binder. Something like this might work for us, but I'd hate to constantly be filling the binder each day. Instead of having my worksheets/printables organised by week I have them organised by subject. That way if we get behind or ahead I haven't messed up my entire filing system in one fell swoop. Which would soooo happen to me. :tongue_smilie:When we get to that subject I just pull out whatever's next, working from a list I have of what needs completed that week. My list is revised every week according to what we completed the prior week. Thinking out loud...putting a week's worth of lessons in the binder might work for us, he'd see just how much he has to do and can work ahead if he chooses. Do you let them work in any order they choose or are they required to go through the binder in order? Great idea! I am now pondering...
  13. Anyone know if they will be offering pdf versions of these? I hate paying shipping to Australia and would much rather be able to print these off myself. I'll probably wait until my kids are a little older so maybe they will be offering it by then. Love these!
  14. I want to start collecting some of the LG/UG books now in anticipation of starting TOG a few years from now. At that point I will have an UG and two LG students. Buying some of the books now will help spread out the cost. Thanks!
  15. We actually do Telling God's Story on our "off" days. I love it because it is a completely different approach, so I feel like the kids are getting the detailed knowledge of the Bible stories through BSGFAA and delving deeper into other aspects with TGS. We use the activity guide that goes with it and complete one or two activities per lesson. I may be the only crazy one who is doing more than one. I won't mention the other devotionals and Bible reading. ;) (It isn't as time-consuming as it sounds! Nor is it the focus of our homeschool, just things we do throughout the day.)
  16. We've only just started using this. I find it unnecessary to schedule, we just pick it up a few times a week and do a lesson. We do the front and back of the page in one sitting. To me it looks like it is designed to do in one sitting...start on page one and then partway down it tells you to flip the page. Once the back is completed it instructs you to flip the page again to finish the first side. So far the stories are very familiar, so we haven't done any Bible reading with the lesson, but this could be done on Day one if you want to stretch the lesson. I think the lessons really tell the story anyway. I don't have the TM or the Bible summary cards. I do have the beginner timeline. The timeline cards are scheduled right on the front page of the lesson, I just follow what's in the lesson and review the old ones to that point. We also have the cd and listen to a song when prompted, then quite often keep on listening. I'm planning to get the Bible summary cards with my next order. I'm curious if the TM is worth it at this beginner level? I'm debating what to order next, I know that I need more beginner pages as my 4yo is now interested. :) My 6yo loves BSGFAA and will remind me if we've missed a few days!
  17. :bigear: Would love to hear this as well! I'm waiting to use TOG when my kids are a little older. In the meantime I am just .
  18. Sorry, here is the link to Speekee. http://www.speekee.co.uk/index.php
  19. Love this! Thank you! There is also Speekee, it's videos to watch with some printable activity sheets. I've read good reviews of it but haven't tried it myself.
  20. Okay, I did this as well. We used this when my oldest was learning and he enjoyed it. We had a similar great deal on the cost at the time. I'd do it again when my 4yo is ready.
  21. We've listened to Bilingual Songs over and over in the car, it repeats word for word everything in both English and Spanish. Very catchy tunes...I can't get them out of my head sometimes. There are four volumes, it's a good way to learn basic vocabulary but isn't what I'd call a curriculum. It's been perfect for my 6yo before we start something more formal.
  22. Okay, so the history breakdown is related to the history sentences for each cycle. What are the "history tunes" that the description of the audio cd refers to? Are these the history sentences put to music? http://www.classicalconversationsbooks.com/cycle1audiocd.html I'm interested in using Foundations at home as well and I am trying to understand the materials.
  23. I read that students memorise the entire timeline each year. Is this correct? Does the audio cd for each cycle contain the entire timeline? Or just the history for that cycle? (I realise it contains the other memory work for that cycle as well, I'm specifically interested in the history info.) If they do memorise the entire timeline each year, what does the history breakdown in the different cycles relate to? Thanks! (new here, but I've been lurking for a very long time!)
