  1. DS6 wanted to fly his helicopter but was afraid to do it in the lounge where the baby was sitting in his bouncy chair. He was afraid he'd hurt the baby so I told him he could fly it in another room. He chose his bedroom and came out a few minutes later saying 'Something bad happened in my room!' The helicopter had gotten stuck in the fishing line we used to hang up his model solar system. Oops! I did manage to get it out- no damage to helicopter or solar system. I thought it was sweet that he was worried about his baby brother.
  2. Too many curriculum choices...sigh...

  3. Can anyone tell me more about MP's recitations? What subjects are included?
  4. Hmmm...good point...I've never asked if the librarians can see my history, I have no idea if they can or not. I'll have to ask next time I go in.
  5. I'm surprised how many of your libraries don't keep track of what books you've checked out. I can log in to my account and see every book I've ever checked out, and every book I've reserved since I started using this library four years ago. It's a long list. :D Especially useful if I'm trying to remember a book title that we've previously checked out. Sometimes I can't find a book in their system that I am sure I've checked out before and yep, it's in my history but no longer available (lost or sold, I guess).
  6. We are just finishing SOTW 1. We took so long to get through it (my fault for letting it slide) that I want to review before we move on to volume two. Part of our review will be creating a wall timeline. I plan to do a notebook timeline on our next cycle through history, i think it will mean more when they are a little older. I bought History Odyssey's wall timeline and HTTA's timeline figures, plan to get started next week.
  7. Relevant, current thread... http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/485496-why-why-why-did-i-do-it-again/ I thought that they weren't holding orders for backorders now through Sept 6th...you should call them!
  8. Thank you! This is one I'd been thinking of trying, that's a great price!
  9. Posting so I can see the screenshot when someone posts one. :D
  10. My last order from them came in 3 weeks!! And that was after they held it for a backorder. Three weeks! I was doing a happy dance! But you won't have it that fast this time of year. Americans are so spoiled with their cheap, fast shipping! :001_tt2: (Says this American who used to be spoiled with cheap, fast shipping but moved to Australia four years ago and now pays very much more for the privilege of slow shipping!) :D
  11. Make duct tape weapons! There's an ebook specifically on barbarians (scroll down). http://warfarebyducttape.com/
  12. It's definitely worth thinking about how much curriculum you'll have that will be teacher intensive down the road when all your kids are school age! I have the whole MM curric as well, and don't regret the purchase even though it isn't our main curric. (Though I wish I'd gotten the by-topic package instead of the by-grade package.)
  13. What I meant was...these dollar deals sales happen several times a year and there are always threads like these where people post about their favourite titles in the sale. With a post count that high you've obviously been here awhile so I thought you would have seen these threads numerous times over the years. :coolgleamA:
  14. How do you have 5499 posts and are new to the dollar deals? ;) It is only the e-books, there are some good ones if you dig. And definitely some not so good ones! The hands-on type ones make great supplements or rainy day activities.
  15. Not clicking! (But subscribing to this thread to see what everyone else is getting!) :leaving:
  16. They did say that you can easily switch from level A first edition to level B second edition. This won't be true of later levels- you won't be able to switch from first edition level B to second edition level C, the content is too different. When I went through level B with my oldest I ended up supplementing a bit with MM. I'm hoping I won't have to do that with the new edition. They said the new one adds more review and enrichment. Also word problems, based on feedback they've gotten.
  17. I just watched the webinar about the change in editions. It's forty minutes long, but it addresses all the questions about the new edition and is very thorough. It can be found here: http://rightstartmath.com/workshops/past-webinars Regarding the first edition being available, she says they will continue to sell and support it. She mentions specifically that they still sell the original program that was written in the 80's, Activities for the AL Abacus. That's the one they had before it was broken into levels A-E and they still offer it even though they don't sell much of it. She also goes through the new layout, talks about what manipulatives you need, and addresses Common Core. She says that the first edition meets CCS, but the second uses them as a bare minimum and goes beyond them. It's worth a watch if you are trying to decide if the new edition is right for you. Side note: I much prefer the new layout, it looks cleaner and is much more visually appealing to me. I find it interesting that others don't (I've seen those comments on the yahoo group also). I wonder if it's familiarity more than anything. Not that it matters, just interesting. ;)
  18. Thread discussing this new curriculum is here if anyone is interested... http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/477857-science-in-the-beginning-dr-jay-wile-v-apologia-elementary/page-2 I'm looking forward to some more reviews!
  19. How many binders do you end up needing for your timeline cards? Thinking of ordering...
  20. Mama, if you make me do school today I will kill myself. (Don't worry, it was said with a grin!) I told him we'd be sure to have a nice funeral for him!

  21. I could kiss you, OP!!! I've had this bookmarked since you started the thread, and finally came back to it a few days ago. And it is...life-changing...in terms of the way I can now do my planning and researching and web-surfing and who knows what else!! I am giddy! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:     Really, I can't believe how much this will help me. Right now I'm planning what we'll do this week for our human body unit. Long ago I created a spreadsheet with our plans. Then I had to go to each file and printout various resources, go to my pinterest links to remind myself about each project, etc. So just now I created a new OneNote page for this...linked my spreadsheet as a printout in OneNote so I can see the plans, attached my pdf's of our resources, saved pics and links to websites with experiments with notes of supplies, linked to videos we'll watch, etc. All in one place!!! It's just so cool! :coolgleamA:
  22. She looks beautiful, and the dress is lovely!
  23. I wondered this too, and I hope it isn't an anti-AMDG thing, because that just seems like stirring the pot.
