  1. According to RS the first edition will always be available. The two editions are not interchangeable, so if you start a student in the first ed they will need to stay in the first ed all the way through due to scope and sequence changes. My oldest is using first ed, but I plan to use the second ed with my other dc and have been waiting for Level B to start my just turned 6yo. I'm happy to see the sample, we can get started! Apparently they print RS in-house, so will always have the ability to print both versions, there will never be a problem with the cost of printing affecting their decision. It's just as easy for them to print either edition. I'm sure that both will be available for the foreseeable future, but who knows if they'll change their minds twenty years from now. ;) By then there could be a third ed, who knows?
  2. Nope, I don't have mine...but I rented mine so I never had it to begin with. Renting my dress allowed me to wear a super-nice dress that I would never have been able to afford. I actually found the one I wanted in a bridal magazine and asked the shop to order it in for me. They agreed because the particular style of dress was one they knew they'd be able to rent again and thus recoup their cost. I am glad not to have it sitting in a box somewhere. Can you tell I don't feel sentimental about it at all? ;) I have no desire to pass it down to my daughter, so I have no regrets. My mom still has hers!!
  3. I am so stalking you if I ever make it to Wellington! (I'm in Aus.). :D Kidding. But I will look for the pink building and think about you! Glad you are safe, hope our other NZ WTM'ers are too.
  4. That was the one recently, right? That was actually a lake...the waterpark was located at a lake.
  5. Ergh...requires Flash so won't work on my ipad. I'll try it on my pc tomorrow. Thank you, I had completely missed that!
  6. I have the web app for Evernote on my PC and the free app on my ipad. After reading how great it was I tried to use it and have really struggled with it. The part I liked the most was the email address, it made it easy to send a link to Evernote when I was surfing the web. But I struggled with organising it, and it just didn't feel easy to use. I know many people love Evernote, so I kept trying. Then I tried OneNote and I find it really intuitive and easy to use if you are familiar with other Office products. Just FYI for anyone else struggling with Evernote, you might find OneNote easier to use. I can have it open on both my PC and iPad and it syncs as I go, so any updates to a checklist would be immediate. I might try this with my 8yo on his android tablet just to compare the android app! Here's a link to a thread that discusses both Evernote and OneNote, I think it's really the way to go, whichever one works for you. Post #15 has a screenshot of a lesson plan in OneNote. You could easily do something similar in Evernote. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/475290-how-did-i-just-find-out-about-this-great-planning-software-one-note/?hl=%2Bone+%2Bnote
  7. OneNote? It's a free app for ipad and android, but it's limited, you'd need it on your computer as well. If you have it on your computer you can make notebooks and then edit them in the app.
  8. Y'all are so spoiled with your shipping costs! Even with that shipping it's cheaper than I can get it here in Australia! $35 for the book and $15 for shipping, that's still only $50. The book alone costs $65 here! :banghead: Will be interested to hear more reviews of this! I'm so torn with science right now. There are several I want to use and we're not getting any done!
  9. I don't see any samples, either. I'm actually interested in the nutrition book, but not without samples. Maybe I'm somehow missing them?
  10. My just-turned-6yo thinks a clean floor=clean room. If I send him to do it by himself everything ends up under the bed, piled on the table, and pushed against the wall. ;) He definitely needs specific instructions, despite repeated 'training' we've done. It's just too big of a task, he doesn't remember how to break it down into smaller steps on his own. My 8yo, on the other hand, keeps his room perfect nearly all the time. We expect so much from our oldest. It can be so frustrating. I don't think you are a horrible mom. :grouphug:
  11. They have a TWSS overview DVD that is $10, maybe that would help? I think it is 2-3 hours long. Obviously it wouldn't be as good as the entire TWSS set, but it might help and is a decent price. I have it but haven't watched it.
  12. Have you read the Five Love Languages? From the examples your friend's love language might be acts of service. She needs him to do things for her and feels miffed when he doesn't. He has no clue why she's miffed since his love language is something else. (That's an example- she might find her love language is something else.). It's an easy read and can greatly improve understanding of each other, I'd recommend she read it, it will help her communicate with him in a way that he'll 'hear' better. Bonus if she can get him to read it also!
  13. I first heard of this book here on the forums and loved it. Looks like it will be made into a movie, directed by Angelina Jolie. She visited Sydney recently for just one day, lots of speculation as to the reason- looks like this was it! I so hope the movie will do the book justice. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/18400635/jolie-to-direct-film-in-sydney/ I think I need to read it again!
  14. These must be new to CBD!! This makes it a lot easier for international folks to order them. Jerry's charges way too much for int'l shipping, and HSBC didn't ship worldwide on their group buy. So glad CBD carries it now!
  15. I have that problem in Firefox as well. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it was a RR problem, hadn't thought about it being Firefox.
  16. I clicked the link for the sample but I don't see it...am I missing something? Does it not work on an ipad?
  17. I'm curious to know more details about what worked and what didn't! ;)
  18. What a Barbie would look like at average 19yo proportions... http://www.essentialkids.com.au/younger-kids/kids-development/what-if-barbie-had-a-normal-body-20130703-2pb9o.html
  19. Home Art Studio? DVD based, inexpensive, short lessons. All you have to do is gather the materials. ;)
  20. Also, FYI, the workbook is reproducible, always a plus for me!
  21. I'm planning to use this with my K'er this year also. I think it looks like fun, the activities look decent for K or Gr 1 or so. I was hoping to use it with my 8yo also, but it will be a bit young for him. I'm happy to hear there are more grade levels in the works. I ordered mine from RR.
  22. Was it a different type of wasp? Could it have been a bee one of those times? That's my first thought, but I have no experience with this.
  23. I love, love, love the Swiffer Vac for hard floors! A charge lasts just long enough for me to quickly do several rooms, and then a regular vacuum every so often if I want to spend more time getting under the couches, etc. When we moved to Australia I was so disappointed that they don't have them here (and no similar product of another brand) that I had my parents bring me one in a suitcase. :D
  24. ETA: just saw the first part of your post that says you are expecting. What I wrote must have seemed very insensitive, I apologize, I truly had missed that part. I've got a newborn right now, we school on a calendar year. DH gets four weeks off work and we are taking off all of it. I am determined to enjoy this last little one. School can wait until DH goes back to work.
