  1. When DH was laid off, he went to Wells Fargo to ask for their help in *keeping our mortgage out of foreclosure*. They did a loan modification that was so not helpful to our situation and, in fact, made our mortgage higher. Your lender may not do that to you, but ask specifically what a modification will do before you proceed. Best wishes
  2. Our last house had vaulted ceilings in both the great room and the master bedroom. The ceiling fans worked great in all seasons, for us.
  3. Dawn, that is exactly the reason I quit using homemade laundry soap. It just couldn't keep up with my guys in the summer.
  4. When we moved here, I got a dentist rec from one of DH's coworkers. From the beginning, I had a weird vibe from dentist. I just couldn't move forward with the treatment he wanted to perform - 4 fillings and 4 extractions on a 9yo. A friend mentioned that she really trusted her dentist, based on previous experiences v. his treatment suggestions. I figured a consultation couldn't hurt. The new dentist wants to fill only TWO cavities and recommends NO extractions at this time. I'm so very glad we got the 2nd opinion (and my non-insured wallet is too)! PS. I'm saying trust your gut. As a child, I was hospitalized to have 5 cavities capped at once. It can happen.
  5. I looked at the March issue in my lap right now - it has 2 strip ads on pp. 5 and 7. Nothing else. Insane amount? Are we talking about the same magazine? On a separate note, this special price is only for new or gift subscriptions. DS's sub runs until Aug12. If I do a gift subscription, would that tack on to the end???
  6. That's what I'm wondering. How in the world would the body know which method was used to grip the dead hair - wax, tweezers, thread? All the body knows is that the hair was ripped out by the root.
  7. I think we will be okay in math, even if we have to work a little harder than some kids. It's the writing I'm concerned about. My pencil-phobic kid is way behind in that area.
  8. Isn't the stubbly feeling caused by the cut end of the hair? Waxed/tweezed hairs don't have that blunt end.
  9. All they are "following" is what you pin - yummy recipes, inspirational quotes, neat decorating ideas. They get no personal information about you at all. Change your username to something anonymous, if it makes you feel better, and enjoy your virtual bulletin board.
  10. Unfortunately, the very nature of Pinterest is public - there is no way to set a board so that only you can see it.
  11. gracesteacher, I'll be praying for your friend's son. Beth, I PM'd you. JM, thanks.
  12. My 4yo niece was diagnosed yesterday. Today my sister is reeling with the news and trying to make an informed decision regarding treatment. Her rheumatologist wants to put Elizabeth on methotrexate but has given Sis and DH a month to research because of the side effects. She's offered no other options if they refuse methotrexate. Sis can do the research, but I thought if I could put her in touch with someone who is in the trenches of this disease and could offer insight from a parent's POV, maybe it would help. If you are willing to email with my sister, I'd appreciate a PM. She is a pretty private person, but this task is very daunting, so I think she will be glad of the help. Thank you!
  13. The iPhone has the ~ character on the second alternate keyboard. Touch "123" and then "#+=". Good luck! I'd be frustrated too.
  14. Congratulations! I remember that day - it is an amazing feeling. I'm so happy for you! (your link doesn't work.)
  15. My 10yo won't pick up a book of any kind (on his own) - I'd be thrilled if he'd attempt DoaWK on his own!
  16. Are you using a computer or a smartphone to set up the listing though? How are you making the posting, not what kind of number it is?
  17. I fully admit that my response was over-reacting. There is nothing rational about panic attacks. I don't have them just for fits and giggles.
