  1. We just put in woodlook tile. It's beautiful, fools everyone into thinking it's real wood. It was a fraction of the cost, and its indestructible.
  2. I've had vertigo, this is different, but I'm willing to try anything. I'll check it out.
  3. Everything I've read says it's more of a brain/vestibular thing. I'm honestly a little afraid to make an appointment with my regular dr. I don't want this to affect my drivers license. I'd never drive if I was dizzy. It's honestly only when I'm either standing still or sitting still. I joined a group for it, on Facebook. apparently many of them feel dizzy when they are still, most everyone can still drive because the movement of the vehicle keep the symptoms at bay. It's crazy. Good idea. I'll call my chiropractor and see if she has any experience with this.
  4. Otherwise known as Mal de debarquement? I think I have it again, ugh. This is the second time I've gotten off a boat/ship and ended up with this. I feel like I'm still on the boat even though it's been 8 days, since I was on the boat. It's a persistent rocking or feeling like I'm on a bobbing boat. It goes away when I'm moving, walking, driving, and only comes back when I'm sitting still. It's driving me nuts. I should probably make a doctors appointment, but apparently it's extremely rare and there's nothing they can do about it. ((Sigh))
  5. I'm in a very small group of homeschoolers that is very diverse. We have AA, Hispanic, Asian and white homeschoolers. We are an eclectic mix and I love it.
  6. My daughter lost 4 pairs in the first two years. It was so frustrating! Costco has great prices on kids lenses and frames. Way cheaper than the optometrist office.
  7. I had one of those clip on the table seats. They were great for little babies but terrible as the babies get bigger and make a mess with food. Then my dining room table was covered in food, so gross. With my last baby I had that seat that lips to a chair, I bought the one with the biggest tray, I hate little trays. I had this one http://m.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=83864896
  8. My oldest was super challenging to homeschool. By about 6th grade I was drowning. My friends and family convinced me to continuity homescholing him through 8th grade. I honestly wish I had sent him to school before high school. He doesn't have fond memories of homeschooling in middle school. We were just constantly butting heads. Would school have made it better? Maybe. Would it have made it worse? Maybe. I just wish I had been willing to give it a try. I was just so stuck in my "homeschooling is always best" bubble. I wasn't in our situation, and I wish I have been brace enough to see that.
  9. We've been with this charter school for 7 years, so it's old hat for us. I don't mind the required samples and 1 form I have to fill out every 4 weeks. It's pretty easy. All my curriculum is in, they were really fast with that this year.
  10. My husband had a nasty cold with a sinus infection a few weeks ago. The same thing happened to him, he couldn't hear anything! Unfortunate the meds really didn't help. He ended up going to the ENT, and they said it could take up to 3 months to clear. Luckily it was only about 2.5 weeks. Hope he feels better soon.
  11. Why not have hubby get a vasectomy? It's so nice to not have to worry about birth control.
  12. It's pretty easy. Although I'm annoyed that we now use last year's taxes for next years fafsa. My Dh made more money last year then he will this year!
  13. Actually, we found that the best price was having the teen driver having his own car, in his name. If you have 3 cars and 3 drivers they figure the teen is driving one full time anyway. Definitely check insurance rates, insuring teen boys is very expensive.
  14. It's really hard to get in a car, around car seats. Maybe get a dry run a few times and see how it goes?
  15. I second the burn out comment. Cubs to Boy Scouts is a long time. Don't force it, if he wants to take a break or even quit, let him. Nothing is worse than a 15 year old Boy Scout who hates scouting and his parents make him do it.
  16. It's so awful to be in college and sick. My ds lives at home and the few times he's been sick, it's been awful for him to miss classes and still have so much homework. I vote you stay home with your sick son, sorry :-(
  17. I don't know if that particular chiropractor is scammy. I have been in a car accident and my neck and back were hurt. I went to the chiropractor twice a week for about 8 months. It made a huge difference in how I felt.
  18. Hey! I read through your post and then looked at the pics and realized that I totally know you irl, lol. I'm Mason's mom from gymnastics and Dehesa :-D
  19. We just redid our entire downstairs in new wood look tile and a bathroom shower in white subway tiles. You can buy special grout from a tile store that is stain and mildew resistant. It was expensive but totally worth it!!
  20. What size is he? Vans has cool looking Velcro shoes up to size 3. My 8 year old loves them. After that, he'll probably move into Vans slip ons
  21. In CA the police won't come out unless someone is hurt. Most of the time people don't even bother to call them.
  22. I've started a list of documentaries and movies that would be good for 12th grade Government. Anyone have any ideas to add to my list?
  23. I'd love to hear some reviews from those of you who did the documents of freedom curriculum. Did you make it a full year course? I'm looking at it for government for my senior this year.
