  1. How about getting a grade level box set from Timberdoodle? I think they are fairly well laid out, include hands on science and some fun stuff too. http://www.timberdoodle.com/Complete_Homeschool_Curriculum_Packages_s/363.htm
  2. I've known friends to leave charter schools and no one had to pay anything back. The worst thing might be that you have to pay for a class or something if you don't finish it out. I have friends who do Skype meetings with their Inspire teachers when they are out of town. It's really not a big deal. Honestly, we do it because of the money. Our budget is very tight and using a chapter helps pay for lessons and classes. So I'm willing to jump through their hoops for thousands of dollars in extra curricular funds.
  3. My dd wears her eye liner with wings all the time. She's a ballerina, so they do wings for stage. That's an odd thing to be bothered by IMO.
  4. I have 1 child with Inspire Choice Plus. It's been a rocky year, we started with Summit, but that was a mess and Summit fell apart and was absorbed by Inspire (who was Summits parent school). They created the Choice Plus program to take all the Summit kids. We had some issues with vendors being paid on time, and curriculum orders taking a long time to come. That said, Inspire had a huge enrollment, over 800 kids in one month I was told. So, I understand the issues they were having. I think it will be worked out by Sept for sure. My ES is great, my daughter loves her. The extra $ is huge, it paid for my daughters entire school year of ballet.
  5. I think Hawaii has some homeschool charter programs also.
  6. My adult son is 20, and in school full time and works 30 hours a week. We've already told him that he had 3-6 months after graduation to find a job and move out. I wouldn't allow an adult child who had finished college to live at home for free, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
  7. Coconut oil works well too. Some f my kids are sensitive to aloe, and coconut oil works for them.
  8. I don't know how much ynab costs, but Dave Ramsey's Every Dollar app is free.
  9. Take a FPU class! I'm telling you, it will be the best $100 you ever spent. http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/locate-classes
  10. My hubby and I did not see eye to eye at all on money matters. We took a Financial Peace class, and it seriously changed how we both saw money and how we managed it. I highly recommend it!
  11. I don't think it looks bad at all. I also think you need smaller lines. My youngest kiddo was struggling with writing, line spacing etc. I had him start using Smart Start paper. It has colored lines, it made a HUGE difference in his writing almost immediately. https://www.rainbowresource.com/prodlist.php?subject=Handwriting/9&category=Smart+Start+Writing+Paper/2068
  12. If he was 14 in February, he should be in 9th. A 19 year old 12th grader would be a nightmare in the future. Put him in 9th.
  13. We have the opposite issue at times. My son has been denied the sign off on a mb because the counselor wanted him to do more work than the merit badge asked for, and it was not an eagle. It was quite ridiculous. I agree, a middle ground would be best.
  14. We bought low flow Jacuzzi brand toilets and they are super flushers. I love them, lol.
  15. My mom watches my nephew 2-3 days per week and doesn't charge my sister. I watched him 2-3 days a week and she paid me. I wasn't willing to do it for free, and we needed the money.
  16. We just did wood look porcelain tile. It's extremely durable and looks fabulous.
  17. I have my 2nd grader working through the grade 2 books. I cross off the phonics sections. Honestly, it takes him like 15 minutes to do the lesson. The lessons are super short IMO, I think it's a good "get it done" program.
  18. That is hilarious!! I love it. Great job Seth.
  19. Uhhhhh that's a really odd present for a 10 year old boy!
  20. If her birthday falls within your local public school I'd call her K and do whatever work she needs. My youngest's birthday is Nov 19. The cutoff for K moved back to Nov 1st that year, so we waited a year.
  21. My daughter started her period during Nutcracker rehearsals. She uses tampax pearl lights, they were teeny tiny and had an applicator. They are smaller than regulars.
  22. Depends. Is this a good friend who asked you to make it? If it was a good friend, I'd do it.
  23. I just don't understand. It's not hard to say, "Oh that's so sweet of you, but we aren't going to be moving and you can't live with us. Pass the bean dip." Repeat- as many times as needed.
