I would call them back and get a written estimate that lists the diagnosis, repairs, parts and labor. Then I go for a second opinion and compare notes before making a decision. (The garage is unlikely to put it on paper if it's fishy.)

I've read through the thread, and still think the parents should be contacted for repayment. They need to know $40 isn't enough money for their dd next time, and ultimately parents are responsible for their children. Now as a parent, I would expect my kid to tell me too. And I would never expect another parent to pick up a big $tab like that and just eat the cost.

We use Fiesta-ware for our everyday dishes, but I have a set of correll too. We love the different color place settings of the Fiesta dishes. I've had them for a while and haven't noticed any scratches. I bought the set on a super Black-Friday sale on-line for $19 per place setting and will plan to purchase more at the next sale. The only negative I've noticed is that the dinner plates are big and take up more room in my cupboards dishwasher than the correl.

I'd take her in for a vet check too. In some dogs, nice is old and it could be age related or an illness, but either way you want to know. Does she have water in the room and how soon does she eat and drink before bed time. These questions will be important if it is age related.
