  1. Gosh darn!! I hate cancer!!!! As someone who's mom is battling cancer right now, I can tell you that it just sucks!! There may be some different treatments; I'd encourage her to get some different opinions. If she's stage 3, then I can't see there not being any hope. Praying for intervention;(
  2. Well, just in comment to the whole "you might get one for Christmas" .... thought I'd let you know that my parents have a Champion Juicer. Greatest thing when you want... juice OR Sorbet!! :) Peach sorbet was just incredible :) You just freeze and put it through there. It's amazing. :) Our Safeway has Organic OJ by the milk, as well as the Odwalla Juices. But... Odwalla isn't organic... so.... :) I love Juicers but don't usually have that much fruit around. I do have a Vitamix and for smoothies and such it's awesome :)
  3. I do them in a large black skillet with a tons of butter and it's also good with some orange juice and brown sugar. I usually just do butter. It sounds bad, but most of the butter is left in the skillet... Then you just pop off the beet and it's really incredible!! ;) The next day you just eat them on salad or whatever.... (The first day I eat them hot) (Of course I scrub them off before I put them in the skillet) YUM YUM YUM!!! :)
  4. The come in about 3 days from the 1-800-Contacts place ;)
  5. My parents have 8 siblings for one... 6 or so for the other. Because of how many years they are spread out, I have an aunt and uncle I never even got to meet. All of them were raised by bio-parents :) But, as far as cousins.... I don't get together with any from my dad, really, and some from my mom. As far as my kids... I have two step daughter (full sis), and 2 kids that are "half siblings".... I feel bad for my kids as I feel like they may not be close... hmmmm.... My brother has 1 son, but our kids aren't close as he doesn't have custody... and we don't see him much :(
  6. If you don't go... could you Skype and do some Caroling singing together? Get it all fixed up before??? At least that's a way to kinda "be with" the family all together :)
  7. I've seen different things called Turkish Delight :) I'd like any of them right now ;) I think that one of them was hard... still dusted with pwd sugar :)
  8. Dailies... whatever dailies you choose. I think mine are Acuvues? I did a price match.... found the least expensive online and then called 1-800-CONTACTS and they did a price match. I just ordered a whole year for $275. When you figure ouot the cost of solution, sometimes one tears of it gets caught in the little seam that are around the disposable case.... I have allergies and they are GREAT for not collecting pollen... Have Fun!! :)
  9. Well, I absolutely fell in love with the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier... kinda off white sometimes as a puppy :) The good thing is that they don't shed, really, it's the hair instead of fur thing.... Bichon Frise would be good, too :) Poodles are good :) You can get all white with those... Maltese?? ;) I really think that for someone that shedding is important... one should REALLY stick with the hair dogs :) I like Lagotto as well as the other one I would look at is.... (if you don't have a problem with it...) A labrador/Aussie mix is one that my friend had. I LOVE my dog, but will stick with the "no fur" dogs from now on.... I am SICK of the fur all over :( As far as training.... that's a big deal and has made all the difference.... I need to do more, but the little I did when we got him has really helped... ;)
  10. Call it a "Holiday" tree... and remind them that it's a "Holy Tree" that they are purchasing. :) If I were a farmer, I'd immediately have "holiday trees" this year, since aren't Christmas trees being taxed? :)
  11. Eggs if fresh are fine... but a bit fattening. When I got my dog, I put the kibble in my hand and he ate it... Then he started eating out of the bowl. Just a thought :)
  12. Funny... I read that as "Is a Dear Son worth it?" ;)
  13. Oops, why wasn't I suppose to use this? My son is 8, but we've had to explain order, as he makes up huge math problems for us. How does Singapore say to explain it? Ooops....
  14. I would probably ask for bills to pay for the amount you're willing to give. (so, 2 months mortgage payments, or something like that...) Just remember that no good deed goes unpunished, and when you start to give, they start to not like you. It's a no-win situation. Another option is to give something like a Visa Card that you've received back. We just recently got one for a large rebate. If you happened to have something like this, you could say that you don't have disposable income/money to offer, but you hope that this $400 rebate could help... :)
  15. It's the whole... you're the parent and they are the child. But I have to say that FB is almost embarrassing not to have as a 12 yr old... and that if you have her show all of her posts to you, then it would be pretty much a "clear window" to her life. It's one of those tricky things... easy for them to get in trouble... but there are always was for that. Just a thought ;( PS, about the DOB I'm pretty sure that her friends told her that everybody does it... and that it's not a bigdeal. FB does that for their protection...

  17. Wow, well, I have to say I'm excited for you! :) Your little peanut sounds like she's gonna keep you on your toes in a good way! :) Enjoy... sorry I don't have a lot of recommendations....
  18. See this isn't suppose to happen though... nothing that the teen wants to keep "private" can be relayed to you... Their body.. their business...
  19. I have to say that I'm torn about this; I truly believe that EVERYTHING the teen has a right to ask... you have a right to hear. I wish it was like before where the Dr could nicely fill you in on what you needed to hear after the teen was in there... BUT, HEPA prevails. They have a right to get just about anything... before they're even old enough to drive. Privacy laws kill me. (like at the library where I can't know WHAT my child checks out, but I'm responsible for their fines/lost books... if that happens)
  20. Do you think that preschool for a few hours may help? If there are special needs, it may be free :) Just a thought.... If you can't be with them all the time, maybe it wouldn't hurt to let him play?? Hugs.. :)
  21. Hey Everyone :) I want cute smilies that aren't on here; how do you do that? Where do you get them? PS... I have a Mac...
