  1. Remind her not to do anything with unclean water... not even brush her teeth.... Sorry :(
  2. Hey Beth :) I'm curious why you don't think you'll finish them. I started with 4a I think... and Caley went most of the way through 6B. I wish that I had made her finish it and move on, rather than trying out Saxon. She didn't like it, but she doesn't like math. (or work at all, for that matter) I thought that it was good material, and looked at the Textbooks that came after that. Nathan started in 1a and is in 3a now... and I don't see "not finishing".... also seeing TT just seems so "unlike".... Singapore... So.... just really curious :) I know you do a really good job with your girls, so I like hearing your opinions.. (and I'm already planning on teaming him up with the tutors at the Shangri-la spot... that's what it's called, right? :))
  3. Hilarious... tried to figure out if there's some clue in there that I couldn't find... Could it be that she's so lucky that the little car and such came up by mistake?? But the... how the title of "Run"... this could be funny :)
  4. You might think about the diapers you're using. If cloth, you need to really kill the yeast in the diaper, if disposable, you might see if it's part of the problem. You can use Monistat... like for v*gin*l yeast infections... which means if you grab the natural one, that would probably work, too. You might try coconut oil just for say... a day... to see if it would work. It's really good at killing problems :) I know tea tree and yogurt can work, too... but they sting/burn... :)
  5. Hey There :) My cat.... has asthma... at least that's our best guess. I'm thinking that this is about $50 a month... for maybe 10 years?? That's..... $6000. Best not to think about her whole life costs, I guess. Anyone else deal with this? I have been giving her prednisone, but seems she needs the "puffer" UGH :(
  6. I use creation based, YE Science. I believe that God created everything, and since he is the author of all, he is the author/creator of Science. So... Science acknowledging God, or Science that is devoid of recognizing the Creator. Just because certain Scientists don't acknowledge God's "hands" in Science, doesn't mean that they aren't/weren't there. If I believe (and I do) that Jesus died on the cross... and came back to life.... and that I am meant to be a Christian (Christ-follower)... then I can believe that he created the World that we live in.... :)
  7. I'd purchase the Activity book... Amazon has it cheapest, or I think you can download the book from SWB's site ;) I really like it... using it from the screen would be easy :) Yes on it's enough... well.. that and what you have around.(biographies... etc) I totally recommend the cds... We just LOVE them :)
  8. Haha... we must have twins :) Course... mine is 8 :) He likes about the same thing; my daughter who was raised just about the same way will eat ANYTHING :) I decided that when this next couple weeks happen, I'm getting organic chicken breast from somewhere and making his own chicken nuggets. Then I won't have to feel bad. I got organic Applegate hotdogs from Trader Joe's and also artificial nitrate free turkey bacon. I got the book by Jessica Seinfield that promotes putting veggies in everything, under disguise ;) I'm someone who believes in making children eat normal food when it's served... or starve... but then I thought of CPS being called... and me trying to explain why my child is starving. So..... I make him eat some things.... (lettuce, carrots... etc...) and he likes to eat some things... (steak of all things) I feel for ya!! :)
  9. And because I was homeschooled, I even know when to use words like "lie" and "lay". I can talk in ways that make you wonder what's up, like "Is it they?" I came by it honestly! My mom took me out of school and started with A Beka 6th grade grammar. I admit, it was a hell year, but I'm glad to have good grammar ;)
  10. BTW, You can correct the title... go to the " Go Advanced" button :) (And I guess I am one... since I know how to do this??;))
  11. Wow.... gets tougher.... My daughter is allergic to nuts :( I suggest asking the teacher for "good food" to bring in.... Either one of those allergies would leave room... but both are pretty hard.... Good Luck!! :)
  12. I think Gmail is great; for one thing they can do the documents on there and then you don't have to worry about forgotten memory sticks ;)
  13. I absolutely LOVE Singapore :) I had my son do it from the beginning.... I think the REALLY important step is to get into the mind of teaching "Asian Math" :) I recommend taking a break and reading Liping Ma's book I love the "number bonds" and the way my son thinks about math. I'm not sure exactly what part is Singapore... and what part is just "how he is" :) Enjoy!! :) (BTW, you can probably do just the Textbook with the HIG for the first book... playing games along the way. There are some games recommended in the guide)
  14. Yes, I know this year they seriously pushed to use it as a full curriculum. I suggest pulling out SOTW III Activity book and also the cds. If you don't have the cds... spring for them. They have made SOTW a blast :) Then choose one activity a week to do.... as you listen through the discs in the SOTW then stick the older ones in your car.... Jim Weiss has several really nice cds that are good, and they are great for my 8 year old to listen to... over and over :) Artner American History is a decent guide to use, if you'd rather go that way :) But, seriously... I love SOTW and I'd just go with it. I'd pull out the WTM and do SOTW with the cd... just the way SWB says :) I love the Kingfisher's Encyclopedia ;) Then..... for Cycle 1, I'd do SOTW I and Cycle II SOTW II.... I also would have on hand Missionary Biography type books to read, and books about Science :) God's Design for Science is nice, and you could pick one to go along with the cycle.... You can read the younger part, and do the project if you choose... and then have your older read the part for olders :) You'll be fine... just plot out what you want to have her do.... You're still in control of this year... learning never stops.... CC ends early... and you have the summer!! Oops... just saw you have the audio. Put it in the car :) Forget having her read it at home. Veritas Press has a decent History program that you might enjoy
  15. I love animals :) Remember... YOU are adopting the animal. Seriously, hair is a HUGE issue, if you've never had an inside dog. I vacuum ALL the time and it never goes away :( I am getting a dog who at least is suppose to "not" shed, and that's for a person who just loves animals :) I also suggest "tomato staking" the dog to you for the first couple of weeks, and then doing serious dog training with it when you have had it for a bit.
  16. My son is reading at 8... with no more than me just making him try a few times a week... (to read out loud) I wasn't worried, but the kids at co-op could read last year... (some of them) and I didn't want him to feel bad. Seriously though, at 8 he's ready. He doesn't want to read for himself, but he can. He would prefer to be read to... but at some point... ya gotta start. Unless you suspect a learning issue, allow yourself a break. Take it away for a while. Try to trick her. :) Read a book that's on her level, start it... and then have to "run an errand" for a bit... just leave it there open ready for her to sneak a peek :) Stuff like that :)
  17. Very Sweet... sorry :( Just to lyk your first and last name are on the ultrasound... and hospital.... not sure if you want that out there... Hugs....
  18. So sorry :( This is so hard :( My mom has cancer... (chemo tomorrow, again) My MIL has cancer... all my family has cancer :( Hard to see our family go through it :( Hope she has a good spot, and helping her get the right things to eat seems to be helpful. It's exhausting just figuring out what should be eaten :( Sorry :(
  19. I don't think it's essential, but the church we went to last night referenced this verse. It was low key and wasn't something that was a prayer specific to an "unsaved persons" prayer, but the points needed... :) Wasn't anything like "Alter calls" where the pastor goes on and on till they get someone willing to come forward... Romans 14:11: American Standard Version For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God.
  20. How horrible :( 26 yrs ago, my cousin chose to die :( It's horrible... and I'm so sorry :( It's the hardest thing to understand, because there is no understanding of it :( Lots of hugs to you all.
  21. Do you already have one of the Belt Racks with his name on it? My mom was thinking of ordering this for my son :) (Amazon has them) On a side note, it must be different than Shao Lin Kempo.... my son can't test for his black belt till a minimum of 13 and most likely 15.... Wonder how they compare; I'm completely lost about the similarities and differences... :)
  22. Yup :) If I liked it! :) I love the name Emily... it's beautiful!! What's the middle? Emily Noelle?? ;) I love the name Noelle as a middle name.. :) but Emily either way is lovely.:)
