Julie in Monterey
We never started our art program this year. We do lots informally. I had hoped we (I) could somehow fit this in. Maybe...this summer. Anyone else? Julie in Monterey

elegantlion
Art, music, and logic. We just set up an art/music room in the seldom used playroom and our logic book we can finish in the summer. :glare:

MamaT
Science is hit or miss around here. We recently got tadpoles, and are waiting for them to turn into frogs. That's science, huh?
Closeacademy
Science--we read it but we haven't done the workbook or very many of the experiements. We get plenty of hands-on real life nature studies but hard core science not so much. :001_smile:
Shelly in IL
It sounded like a good idea, but we just don't seem to have the time.
iammommy
foreign language, art appreciation. We just started Pianimals, but had also done very little music until now. Nan
Psm73
Keeping with the art "theme", I will say art ... just like most years for us. :001_smile: Also Latin. I wanted to start Latin in 3rd grade but we'll be waiting until next year.
Mom2boys
For us it is foreign language. And, we haven't done as much science as I had hoped.
patchfire
Chemistry... we've done our fair share of science reading, but I wanted to do some experiments and go through something more formal. Art & music are covered only because I outsource them!
the floating cottage
Foreign Language. As usual I have put it off. The college my high schooler is looking at oddly enough doesn't require it before entrance. Since my next in line is second grade, I believe I will wait and let her take in college. I was sweating about it. But I am letting that one go!
Matryoshka
Art. In past years I had them take classes, but they were really expensive (though good), and I tried to save money buying Artistic Pursuits. It hasn't gotten done. Sigh.
chai
Wow, does this sound familiar. I had plans for art appreciation, but we haven't done much of it. Thankfully, dd is taking an art class at co-op. We dropped Latin temporarily to work on French. Now, we aren't doing either of them! I'd be behind in science too, but we do that during the summer. runamuk
Art and music. I've also slacked off on science quite a bit.
Lori in MS
Latin and logic. I joined a coop for art and Spanish so at least that is getting done now.
dragons in the flower bed
Art. Artistic Pursuits, as usual. This is the 3rd year we haven't done it.

Sunshyne
Art and music here, too. Ugh. If listening to Beethoven's Wig counts as music, then we're doing better than I thought!
sandra in va
Art. Artistic Pursuits, as usual. This is the 3rd year we haven't done it. Same here...art! I thought AP looked so easy to use...it seemed that it was really going to happen. Unfortunately, it has not happened yet. Glad I'm not alone. :)
Sew happily ever after
We haven't gotten to artistic pursuits, but that doesn't mean we haven't done art. I teach art classes at the local art center so my kids get their fair share of art making and art history by going there with me. The main thing we haven't done too much with is Winter Promise Children Around the World. We just never have time...although when we have done it the kids LOVE it! blessed2fosteradopt
Art and music. Also, logic but that is mostly because my son struggles with it even at the lowest levels.
Ali in OR
Art. It's always art. We do a little, but not much.
sandra in va
Sorry for the hijack...I'm just thinking that all of us struggling to do art should just commit to doing art once (say in the next couple of weeks). Then we can break this vicious cycle and start doing it more regularly, like twice a year? :D Anyone want to join me? It sure would make my kids happy (even as I type my 6 yo is reading this over my shoulder and asking "Can I do art?") - guilt, guilt, guilt! Wendy in ME
Nature study. I really wanted to get to this but I have successfully added music, art, Bible, and poetry so I will work on this as next year's goal.

Melora in NC
Our progress in Greek has been truly pathetic. And it's not the fault of the program. It is all me.
Strawberry Queen
well, art of course.:D As well as only 8 lessons in latin, and 3 lessons in french, and 15 science experiments and 2 chapters read in bird science. I recently told my kids that I'm not teaching them art. I'll get them books and provide materials but it's up to them if they want to learn. I've also pared down to the basics. Math, writing(spelling and a tiny bit of grammar), and reading. I'm having them read lit., science, and history. I'm hoping to get rid of the guilt. CM is all well and good in theory but it lays a massive guilt trip on me. All of that best of this and that nature study and hand work in the afternoons. ACK! It's just too much. So, I'm aiming for the basics and that's all I'm doing. ;)
Macrina
We started out the year with lots of holes, but I think I filled the last one up with in the last month. Just in time for our move and for it all to fly out the window! We didn't get to foreign language, but that's because my sister is giving us her Rosetta Stone as soon as she finishes it! :toetap05:
Susan in TN
Art lasted about 2 months and we're way behind on elementary science.
Zoo Keeper
Boy, we're all in the same boat--and it must be the size of Carnival cruise ship ;). rainforest mama
Art and Music as usual. I don't know why I can't just throw them in once a week, but even if I schedule them, they just don't happen.
Penelope
Piano lessons. I've decided to hire out, even though I can teach beginning piano myself. If we pay someone, it will get done. Art--less than I wanted. It seems silly to get upset about missing it at this age, though. We have AP and of the lessons we have done, I tell them what the project is and start doing it, and they take the same supplies and just do whatever they want with them. Note to self: spend money earmarked for lower elementary art to buy more art supplies instead.
iamom
Formal art and music. We do both informally here and there but not with any kind of regularity.
