Soph the vet
I have a social group called "Ask the Vet" and I check it daily for questions. This morning, everything was inverted. So now I have tried to delete pages of messages thinking it was just getting too full, and instead it looks like I have two groups! Ugh! I'm going to be gone all day but I'll check back tomorrow to see if anyone has any insight on this. Thanks!
mamaof2andtwins
There is definitely something wrong with them. I am not sure what the problem is. Jennie
LaxMom
No! It looks like they've been changed so there are threaded discussions now, instead of being one long, linear discussion. I like it! (Though I am now confused because the link to social groups has been moved to the Community menu from the Quick Links... was that Community menu always there?) TeacherZee
They were doing updates on the forums when I woke up this morning, I think what they were doing was tinkering with the social groups.
Rose in BC
Unless I'm missing something each of the groups I belong to only show one message, I'm assuming the last one posted.
elegantlion
I was confused this morning too. The coffee has now kicked in and I'm going back for a second peek.
Storm Bay
I, for one, am unhappy, because when I click to read a discussion in a social group I get a log in page. I cannot even read them anymore, and these are groups I'm in. If a moderator reads this...help!
Susan Wise Bauer
Bob upgraded some forum software this morning and said to let him know if we noticed anything odd. So I'm letting him know now. stay tuned. SWB

newlifemom
It looks like they have been set up as mini forums. When did this happen? Is there a reason for it?
Crissy
It looks like they have been set up as mini forums. That's what I see as well. Each group now supports individual threads which function much like the regular forum does. It seems to me that it will be easier to quote posts and keep track of conversations. :)

It seems to me that it will be easier to quote posts and keep track of conversations. :) That's so great! I just didn't even use the social groups because they were too hard to follow. I wished they were mini forums. Thanks for the update!!!
Blessedfamily
I wished you could keep threads separated too, so different discussions can continue seperately. Takes some getting used too.
Blessedfamily
I wonder how I can get the big question mark replaced with a picture on our group? Never mind- I found it under Edit group-Edit group icon. I like the setup. Edited February 5, 2009 by Blessedfamily

Jean in Newcastle
How do you get to them? I used to find them under Quick Links.... One way is to click "User Control Panel" - Then "Social Groups" is under Networking.

Crissy
One way is to click "User Control Panel" - Then "Social Groups" is under Networking. That's how I find them. Also, there is a link under Community.
LaxMom
Four to the left of "Quick Links" is "Community". It's there.
KidsHappen
I am still not getting the thread forum style. It looks the same as before but the messages are listed from oldest to newest instead of the other way around. How is it we are all getting different views? Oakblossoms
I went there and signed up. I don't like it. The entire forum is one long discussion. I have to go over to page 15 to find the last post. That's obnoxious.

It looks the same as before but the messages are listed from oldest to newest instead of the other way around. How is it we are all getting different views? Everything that has been posted previously is in one continuous post, oldest on the front page to newest on the last page. Jedi Bob certainly couldn't guess how we'd like the old conversations broken up, so there they are. All in one. It appears to me that from this point on, you can start a new thread and reply to various threads just like you do here on the main forum. LaxMom
Indeed. If you go to the Motivate Moms group, I have created a second thread, so you can get a feel for how it will look with multiple discussions going on.
Aubrey
Oh! Much more fun! And for LOSTies, quite essential. We're having enough trouble keeping everything straight! LOL!

It seems that none of my groups have started new conversations yet. Sounds like I will like it better though.
Remudamom
I LOVE IT!!! Don't change it, it's brilliant!
Jean in Newcastle
Actually I think it depends on the nature of the social group as to how well it works. For discussions that neatly go into different subjects, the new threaded way is really good. For groups like the 1-2-3 Accomplish group that I belong to, it's a bit of a pain now because you can't just automatically see the latest list at the top. But that group doesn't actually discuss anything so it is unique. But we'll adapt. Us homeschoolers are an adaptable bunch. I think I'll put that as one of my goals. . . Storm Bay
I STILL can't use this! I cannot even get to the new discussion I started yesterday to test it. Suffice to say, I hate the new set up. Is there some secret? I get the cookies from this site, of course.
