G5052
Plenty -- I've bought more homeschool books than you'd think from Amazon and eBay, especially used.
PagesandFields
Plenty -- I've bought more homeschool books than you'd think from Amazon and eBay, especially used. When ever I have looked the books have been almost twice the cost... Things like ECT, BA... I buy all our reading books from abebooks but can't find a source for curriculum... Maybe I need to look again... Thanks!
desertflower
There's homeschool buyers co-op and homeschool classifieds.
luuknam
You might ask around if there are any used curriculum sales in your area. In our area there's one every year in May. ETA: Amazon prizes fluctuate, sometimes a lot. I recently ordered AOPS Prealgebra for significantly less than the price on the AOPS website - but most of the time it costs the same or more on Amazon as on AOPS. Hunter
I hardly ever buy curriculum anymore. It is easier to give real books away, and that is important to me. The little curriculum I do buy is ebooks from the publisher/author or from Currclick. Most of my physical books are from Amazon or a local Barnes and Noble or the trendy coffee shop that sells the Dover Thrift Classics. SparklyUnicorn
Here are a few more: http://www.christianbook.com/ (they sell lots of non christian books too and they often have good book samples) http://www.timberdoodle.com/ http://www.homeschoolsupercenter.com/ http://www.usedhomeschoolbooks.com/ https://www.homeschoolingbooks.com/ http://www.homeschoolbuyersco-op.org/ http://www.educents.com/hb?utm_expid=68267763-5.pm7zJtSkTr6GHvSAIwKaqQ.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com Some of these are religious based, but most of them sell religious and non religious homeschool stuff. Some publishers don't put their items for sale anywhere else. Two that come to mind are Teaching Textbooks and Math U See. There are more too.

Hunter
Yes, as Sparkly said, Christian Books is awesome. I was having a brain freeze. I've been using them since the 1990s. I've used Exodus Books for years, too. It took me a bit to remember their name. http://www.exodusbooks.com/ But as I said, I just don't order hardcopy curriculum anymore.

Hunter
Oh, yes, Adoremus. Do they still sell some of the Spalding bits without the sky high shipping fees that Spalding charges?
Hunter
Exodus Books is my favorite place to buy new & used curriculum! In the past I got a good price on a few ultra-conservative author-published things. Their used items are usually in very good condition. Hunter
Is there any other place to order different homeschool/school books besides directly from distributors? This is a good thread. I've been so busy, I'm not here every day anymore, but I don't remember a thread like this in awhile. It is timely.
kirstenhill
A smaller store I've ordered from is: http://www.legacyhomeschool.com They are in the same state as I am, so sometimes I order from them when I want something quickly since it will ship to me in a day. But it is also nice to support small family businesses too.

Guest
Most of our books come from CBD, Amazon, and Rainbow Resource.
Rachel
Mardel may be an option too. I generally order from Amazon, Peace Hill Press, or Rainbow Resource.
FO4UR
I have always been pleased with Rainbow Resource. The free shipping is awesome if you live close. I usually have the box on my doorstep in no time. Even when I lived far away, the shipping was reasonable. I compare prices, and RR is usually cheaper. .50 here and 1.00 there add up when you are buying for 4 kids. Plus, you can get such a wide variety with one order - and free shipping. They have a nice Bargain section now. I've bought some very nice things VERY cheap b/c a box was dented or there was a crease on the cover. I'm happy to get those deals. There are some things I like to buy direct from the publisher. Things like the SOTW activity guides or WWE workbooks are ordered from PHP website. I save $ b/c I can reprint for all my kids, and I think the author makes a higher % that way too. win-win.
RootAnn
Oh, yes, Adoremus. Do they still sell some of the Spalding bits without the sky high shipping fees that Spalding charges? Adoremus used to have a lot of stuff (IEW, All about Learning) that would be included in their annual 20% off sale (right after Easter, so it is done for this year). You couldn't get it that cheap anywhere else. However, it seems like they are phasing out a lot of their homeschool stuff. The last time I was in their brick-and-mortar store (which I trek to maybe once every two years), there were a LOT of empty shelves in the curriculum section. They haven't carried AAL (AAS, AAR) stuff in the last few years and their IEW selection is minimal compared to what it used to be. I think they are cutting back & may only carry some limited stuff (mostly Catholic) in the future once the other stuff sells out. That's the impression I got from the person who checked me out the last time I was there (within the last six months). They are going more church-goods-store than homeschool-store. It is sad. :crying: Christianbook (cbd.com) is often very close in price to Rainbow Resources -- sometimes several dollars cheaper overall. If you can get a free shipping code, it makes sense for me to use them. I buy most of my curriculum from cbd now and struggle to find things to get from Rainbow. (My kids love it when a box from Rainbow comes because I try to make sure there is a little game or item for each one of them.)

sweetpea3829
I'm just curious, was there a reason you didn't want to use RR?
