A HSing friend told me she has joined a new HS group in her new city where they just moved.

She started telling me about a family who don't pay taxes, are uber conservative, stockpile food and weapons, conspiracy theories, etc......and I thought, "Yup, I know these types."

Then she said, "And they believe that we are actually still part of England and a British Colony.

Wow, that is a new one.  Apparently it IS a thing!

and more and more google finds.

Have you heard this one?

We have similar thing going here in Australia. It's funny at how they get away with it though. They don't even pay for car rego plus other taxes.

They become their own dynasty, or something like that.

And something about your name in capitals means that the government has ownership of you, so they take back that ownership or something.

A homeschooling friend was telling me about it just recently.

It must be a new thing going around???

Perhaps they should be paying taxes to the English crown.

Nah: even if they believe they are British, they wouldn't have to pay taxes to Britain on money earned overseas - the UK does recognise the United States as a foreign country.

The US is one of very few countries that taxes its citizens on overseas earnings.

That one is also rather bizarre.
