DawnM
A HSing friend told me she has joined a new HS group in her new city where they just moved. She started telling me about a family who don't pay taxes, are uber conservative, stockpile food and weapons, conspiracy theories, etc......and I thought, "Yup, I know these types." Then she said, "And they believe that we are actually still part of England and a British Colony. Wow, that is a new one. Apparently it IS a thing! http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/united_states_british_colony.htm http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/sociopol_globalbanking92.htm and more and more google finds. Have you heard this one?
Jean in Newcastle
Yes, I've heard of it. Probably on the t.v.
Lady Florida.
Never heard that one, but there as so many batty conspiracy theories that I can't say I'm surprised. I bet that would surprise the PTB in the UK though.

HelenNotOfTroy
Perhaps they should be paying taxes to the English crown.
Slache
I will totally believe this if it means I don't have to pay taxes.
Word Nerd
Is this related to the sovereign citizens movement?
Spryte
Did she, by chance, meet the Nauglers? (Ok, I know, calling them a homeschooling family is a stretch, but...)

Jasperstone
We have similar thing going here in Australia. It's funny at how they get away with it though. They don't even pay for car rego plus other taxes. They become their own dynasty, or something like that. And something about your name in capitals means that the government has ownership of you, so they take back that ownership or something. A homeschooling friend was telling me about it just recently. It must be a new thing going around???
Laura Corin
Perhaps they should be paying taxes to the English crown. Nah: even if they believe they are British, they wouldn't have to pay taxes to Britain on money earned overseas - the UK does recognise the United States as a foreign country. The US is one of very few countries that taxes its citizens on overseas earnings.

Butter
And something about your name in capitals means that the government has ownership of you, so they take back that ownership or something. That one is also rather bizarre. http://www.henrymakow.com/the_all_caps_grammar_lesson.html http://reality-bytes.hubpages.com/hub/Strawman-Your-Name-In-Capital-Letters http://www.viewzone.com/collateralx.html
