What are some of your favorites?  Are you a conservative viewer or open to anything?

Regards,

Kareni

I'm not sure if I count as conservative but my personal standard is no smut-laden romance or gore-filled horror. I prefer not to be assaulted with a ton of profanity, but can censor for myself. Also, the recommendation doesn't have to be recent. If its from the 80s or early-mid 90s I was either not born or too young to know that the film existed.

I will watch films from most genres. Just too give an idea of things that I've seen...Disney movies and John Wayne Films on VHS were a staple of my childhood. I like Star Wars episodes 1-6 (some more than others), Lord of the Rings (I have the extended edition, seen it many, many times). The Notebook was okay but not usually my type of movie. I have not seen most of the Marvel Films--I grew up watching the shows and reading the comics, but haven't been over-eager to see the films since Spiderman 2. I thought that Up Town Girls was one of the worst movies I've ever had the misfortune of watching all the way through. Kill Bill was too gory and too slow for my tastes. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kidd is probably one of my top 3 favorite films.

My All-time, Never to be Topped FAVORITES:

All Harry Potters

Jaws

Last of the Mohicans

Jerry Maguire

Boondock Saints 1&2

Other favorites:

Clash of the Titans

Wrath of the Titans

Bridget Jones 1 & 2

PS I Love You

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1&2)

Scream Series (I grew up in the 90's, so these "horror flicks" are pure nostalgia)

Steel Magnolias

28 Days Later (if you like zombies)

Dances with Wolves

Bridesmaids <-- Hilarious

Identity Thief <---Hilarious, but definitely language and a weird sexual scene. You can catch it on TV, edited, though.

All of the Hangover movies (I've only watched them edited for TV but they are hilarious)
27 Dresses

Monster In Law

Devil's Due (if you like horror movies)

Elysium (spelling? Language and maybe violence, cant remember.. but dh loved it)

The Road

I don't usually watch a lot of comedy or Rom Com's but judging by my list it sure looks that way lol. I'm more of a horror/SciFi/Action type gal, personally. My mind is going blank though... maybe not enough coffee.

Harvey (Jimmy Stewart and his invisible 6 foot rabbit), Some Like it Hot, and Arsenic and Old Lace (Cary Grant). All three are comedies (dramas make me anxious) and just hilarious!

Agree with It Happened One Night (the old Clark Gable version), which someone mentioned up thread.

Old Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton shorts are good for a quick laugh sometimes but I can't watch more than one or two at a time.
