We are back from the Old Lady Party. There is one lady who talks nonstop about being worried about her sister and/or nieces and describes so many violent methods of being murdered. Poor thing. And eventually I have to interrupt her to tell her it's time to sing "You Are My Sunshine". I was glad to see Joe there. He was a "radio man" back in the 30's and 40's and loves to sing. He always wears a yellow cardigan. :)

I forgot about the 40lb bags of hardwood fuel pellets (bunny and rat litter) in the back of the van. Anyone want to haul them up?

We're having Pakistani Kima for dinner.

I grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods in the country and I was never once murdered that I can remember.

Pakistani Kima on Monday here.

I don't know what's for dinner Monday. I should figure that out. The boys are supposed to cook.

I'm building a menu you around non Whole30 compliant foods that we have so I can start cleaning all of that out. Tonight is tacos because our produce is going to go bad. Also, next week we're having cream cheese chicken chili to clear out some canned goods and rice.

Oh, the funny singing lady was there too! She sings at the top of her lungs in the correct key but an entirely different song. While we sang Down in the Valley, she was singing Jingle Bells. And then when we were singing Amazing Grace, she was singing You Are My Sunshine. She is such a hoot. And probably on some medication that makes her feel free and happy. :D

Back from counseling. Emotionally exhausted. Pretty sure the counselor thinks my anxiety is worse than dds. Shhe keeps offering to set up an appointment for me or to refer me to someone. Probably doesn’t help that I cry every time we speak without dd.

:grouphug:  ( Does she have kids?    Just kidding. )

I love your descriptions of the Old Lady parties.  I would be so confused by the various odd behaviors, but you take it all in stride.   :thumbup1:

I think I want to smack her. Hello?  When else can you just let loose and cry?  Hmph.

She does! Kids with anxiety no less! 🤷â€â™€ï¸ Honestly she may be right. I can’t even read the books she recommends without crying. I’m still crying. But it scares the crap out of me and when am I going to find the time? The week was already full before we added counseling and twice a week vision therapy.

:grouphug:   I'm not even going to ask the name of the book....   :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

Crying is just as often a sign of frustration as anything else, at least it is for me. I'm seldom ever anxious, but if I cry in front of someone, you can bet I'm simply frustrated with a problem that is defying my ability to solve it on my own. Nothing to do with anxiety at all for me. I've always been that way.

It also probably didn’t help when she had dd pick out a toy for each family member to play with in a sand box and then dd spent the whole time burying mine in a “nice little burrow†with an airhole. I was just dying inside. 🤦ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸

I don't know why you'd think that's bad. Maybe she recognizes your desire for quiet time (totally understandable with a herd of small children.) Or she was making for you your very own Hobbit Hole (which would be fabulous.) Sounds loving to me.

I want to snack on all the things. But I didn’t. I just had one of those “Sargento Balanced Break†things with a tiny amount of cheese and an equally tiny amount of trail mix. Which is why I buy them instead of making them myself. I would give myself more if I had my druthers. (Which leads me to ask who has my druthers? I seem to have misplaced mine. )

A hobbitt hole would be pretty sweet. I’d just hate for her to feel like she needs to protect me or take care of me. It’s supposed to be the other way around for at least the next thirty years!

We all want to take care of the people we love the most. Even short people. :001_smile:

Huh, the wiki pg I just looked at said Islam was one of the things they drew from but they aren’t considered Muslims except in Egypt. Also, it sounds like they just incorporate lots of diffetent beliefs they come in contact with, including Hinduism and Neoplatonism, etc.

Yes, but if you dig around it says something about it originally stemming from Islam. I looked around quite a bit, which is how I drew the Jethro was a Muslim conclusion and gave up.

Speaking of minority middle eastern religions, I had a friend when I lived in California who was Mandaean.

I'd never heard of that group before.

Her family were Iraqi refugees who settled in Sweden.

She was excommunicated for marrying a Catholic.

Wikipedia is not a valid research source for a reason.

The source for who Jethro is, is the Bible. It says that he’s a priest if Midian. It doesn’t say more than that. You can extrapolate a bit by looking at the Canaanite religions in the region at the time, but that’s it. I will 100% say that he was not Muslim because Islam wasn’t even a religion yet.

Now I have to go out -again.

Glad they got it quick. Did they suggest anything you can do to keep it from coming back so frequently?

She gave me a new preventative antibiotic.😩 I swear, I feel like I am ruining my body with all these antibiotics, but I don’t know what to do. My doctor isn’t particularly worried, and I don’t want to go to a specialist.

What religion was Moses' father in law Jethro?

Religious Booya.

My official answer to that question is, “I don’t knowâ€

But, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he could have worshipped Jehovah. There are instances recorded in the Bible of people outside of the Hebrew faith to whom God revealed himself - Job and Melchizedek come to mind.

EdPo

We went on a field trip this afternoon. There is a traveling exhibit about the Japanese Internment during World War 2. There is/was a large Japanese population here and most people my parents’ age know people who went away. My dad’s family farmed/took care of their Japanese neighbor’s land for them until they came back. It was very interesting. There was even a veteran there, who group up in the town, who was in the 442nd regiment and he spoke with us about his life and experiences. It was a very interesting afternoon.

Oh, and we got ice cream.

I don't think antibiotics will ruin your body, but I share your concern about making the bugs resistant to stuff. I just wish there was something you could pinpoint that would reduce the infections. Because UTIs are butt.

(Whining). Susan, will you hold my hand? I’m locked out if FAFSA again despite putting down all the login information I had faithfully written down. Can I call someone and get actual help from someone?

First call is to JJM and extreme firepower.

There is a hotline listed on the sight that you can call during business hours and that might help. Maybe. Dh said that usually if he went through the process to reset his password, he could get in. Are you still on your phone? I don't think that should matter, but we are talking about fafsa, so you never know. I also remember having issues with needing to have all different email addresses for all involved parties, and possibly different parent emails for each student? That's probably not an issue for you (yet).
