3girls4me
Any thoughts on this book for my book club? We have done Jane Eyre, Uncle Tom's Cabin and A Sever Mercy. Thanks!
The Girls' Mom
I enjoyed it. It has been quite a while since I read it, but I think it would make a great book club read.
ThisIsTheDay
I think it would be wonderful for a book club. I've read it several times over the years, but it would have been ten times better to have read it with a friend. Or four. ;)

PrincessMommy
I did it for book club several years ago. It was wonderful.
SKL
I enjoyed that book very much. It put me on a Pearl S Buck kick. :)
Mothersweets
Love this book. Pearl Buck's writing is wonderful.
JFSinIL
I love Pearl S. Buck's novels. The Good Earth is one of her best....and the film with Muni and Rainer is very good, too (although annoying they taped the eyes of movie stars to make them look Chinese rather than cast actual Asian actors in the lead roles. But it was what, the 1930s, and common practice.)
Carol in Cal.
Awesome book, and it's very instructive to read the two sequels that follow as well.
prairiewindmomma
We covered it in book club several years ago; it was a great discussion!
Kareni
My book group recently read and enjoyed another of Pearl S. Buck's books, namely Dragon Seed. We had a great discussion. Go for it! Regards, Kareni
Peaceful Isle
When I read the title to your post, I immediately thought of the restaurant called "The Good Earth". I went there a long time ago in MN. Not sure if it around still. Sorry for that little side track.

Mom in High Heels
This is my favorite book ever. I read it about once every other year or so. It's so well written and the characters are beautifully fleshed out. Olan is just the best character ever. I would absolutely read it with a book club.
