mom31257
Can you tell I'm trying to get gifts decided today??!! What are some of the favorite gifts you received from friends/neighbors? You know, the goodie tray of homemade stuff or the unique gift bag full of things.
JustEm
Well I used to give a cheesecake to my brother every year for Christmas. He absolutely loved it. I haven't received anything homemade or edible for Christmas since I was little. But I was considering making everyone beef jerky this year. ScoutTN
Homemade vanilla! Homemade fudge suace or caramel sauce. Locally made cheese. Not homemade, but delicious. - pears from Harry and David are my absolute favorite! My mom gets them for us each year. We do get many homemade baked goods each year - teacher presents from church or gifts from nieghbors and we enjoy them all! Gingerbread is a favorite here as are quick/nut breads. Mrs Mungo
Last year I received a creme brûlée, YUM! I made trays of treats last year with homemade gumdrops, pistachio brittle, fudge, peppermint bark dipped pretzels, spritz cookies and so forth. Stacia
Homemade jams & jellies. Buckeyes (peanut butter balls covered in chocolate). I would love a homemade bread (though we've never gotten that). Chocolate-dipped pretzels. Also, homemade beeswax chapstick/lip gloss &/or candles. GSOchristie
I thought about doing homemade bread and homemade pimento cheese this year. I'm on a pimento cheese kick after I found Paula Deen's recipe and feel a need to share it with the world ;).
ThatHomeschoolDad
My mother made an insane lemon cake for gifts for a long time. I never got the recipe, but oh, man.... I did different compound butters in the smallest Ball style canning jars one year and people raved. It was different from the cookie thing. Lara in Colo
I have a friend that gives us some fruitcake every year. It is a "special" family recipe. I get two loaves and I have to hide it from the children. I ask every year for the recipe-- nope. Every one who has tried this cake loves it. The closest I have found is something like this, but with brandy http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Texas-Pecan-Candy-Cake/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=texas%20fruit%20cake&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page

Erica in OR
Our neighbor gives us caramel corn. Yummy and gone in a flash. Plus, I find it a pain to make, so it's a treat to have it with no fuss required. A friend gives us a pan of homemade rolls on Christmas Eve. They're great for ham sandwich leftovers over the next few days. Erica in OR

Chocolate Rose
A few years ago, I friend made these great book marks. It's basically a strip of cardstock folded in half with magnets attached so that when you put it mark your place in the book with it, the magnets keep the bookmark from falling out. She's quite the artist and painted the bookmarks so they're quite lovely. But, this is my FAVORITE bookmark and I haven't lost it yet. It's a simple craft that kids could do, too. Kari C in SC
I love handmade ornaments and caramel corn. I have been giving out this easy to make fudge for years. www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/fantasy-fudge-51833.aspx It must be liked because I'm getting a lot of whining since I'm not giving it out this year. I opted to make homemade vanilla instead.
