lynn
We've had a rough December with flu/virus' going around the past 2 weeks. We've missed every planned Christmas Event/activity this month and I just don't feel like writing cards. I havehad all to do to get my Christmas shopping for my family and I still need to plan and purchase grocery for Christmas Eve/Day and the week we all be home because I don't like running out Christmas week for anything. Can I please be excused from sending Christmas cards this year...
nrg
We have taken up sending a photo card. Upload a photo to the Walmart website and have your cards delivered to your home or to the local store. Easy. Cheap. Distant family gets to see you all. OR Just change the tradition... lavender's green
We should start a club! Bonded together by our lack of Christmas card-sending. Seriously, I hear you, and :grouphug: about how your month is going. And I'm just a teensby bit sick of sending out cards every year and never receiving any. :glare:
SunnyDays
I gave up sending cards a few years back, and honestly, so have a lot of people I know. If it stresses you to do it this year, you have permission to skip it!! :)
Jennifer in MI
WE went to every other year. I added up the cost of sending them ((we have lived in a lot of places had have a LOT of cards to send), and added the effort it took and decided it was something that could be done every other year. Don't do them.
DaffodilDreams
With the hit our finances took when the economy tanked, Christmas cards was something we had to cut out. We might have been able to add them back this year, but still not too comfortably. Instead, we will severely cut the list and send out photo cards for Chinese New Year. Depending on how it goes, this might be our new card-sending tradition.
Denisemomof4
You are excused but only if you promise to feel no guilt. I have seen people do that many times before. I don't send them anymore. I used to do picture cards of the kids but since oldest turned 18 I just kind of stopped doing that. We wanted a pic of the girls and a few of our animals this year but never got around to it. Parrothead
You can be excused of Christmas card sending if I can be excused of cookie making.
AlmiraGulch
I didn't send any this year, either. I may never send them again. To be honest, I often wonder why I get Christmas cards from people I no longer hear from a single other day out of the year. Seems a bit contrived to me. AK_Mom4
I didn't send any this year. Just wasn't interested in writing them out and mailing them. It wasn't the time factor - I had plenty of time. I just didn't feel like putting the effort into it this year.
happi duck
I love sending cards and some years they don't get sent and that's fine. I love getting cards from others, even if it is our only contact all year it still means a lot to me. I have sent and received cards in January. So basically, if you don't want to send them...no worries! If you decide to send them late...no worries! I vote that you do what stresses you the least. JumpyTheFrog
I don't send cards. The only ones we've received this year are from a medical lab where I had some tests run and our car insurance company. I wonder why they think I want a card from them? GailV
Some years I send them, and some I don't. Some years they're lovingly handmade. Other years they're something I bought for cheap. Sometimes they have a letter, sometimes they don't. Once I only made it halfway through the alphabet in addressing them and decided to quit. My inlaws are in the 2nd half of the alphabet, btw. Oops. I've been known to skip the whole thing, and send out Valentines instead. Mix it up! Keep people guessing! Don't let them get complacent, thinking a card from you is an entitlement. beezus
I used to send out dozens of Christmas cards. Over the years I started to really dread writing them out, so I relieved myself of that responsibility. Some years I send out a few, but mostly I don't worry about it. If you hear from someone and really feel the need to respond, you can always send a "Happy New Year" card later on.
Georgiana Daniels
We're in transition--for the better part of the last 8 months--so I'm opting out this year. And I refuse to feel guilty!

annandatje
I stopped sending them many years ago. You are excused.
Mrs Mungo
Julia Child and her dh sent Valentine's Day cards instead. Just another option. It would be nice to do it at a less busy time of year. :)
Stayseeliz
I'm not doing cards this year. I was thinking about then there was a mix up with the photographer. Then we got the flu. I give up!
Jenny in Florida
I had grand plans for doing something lovely and personal with our cards this year. We bought printable blank cards, and I had planned to design something cute and also to write a holiday letter, because I haven't done one in a few years. Then we got busy, and both my son and I got sick, and the blahs set in firmly. So, I went to a fall-back position. I bought some pretty cards that benefit a charity, and I just now finished uploading photos and ordering a small collage sheet from Walgreens. The new plan is to stick a photo sheet in each card, sign our names, address the envelopes and pop them in the mail. Not creative, but something. I love cards, both sending and receiving. It's important to me to make the effort. But I'm choosing to refuse to feel guilty about doing less.
Freckles
If it makes you feel any better, I never send Christmas cards or the beautiful family photo cards. We haven't had a family portrait taken in over 3 years. This expense never seems to be in the budget. Most of my friends and family are on FB. I just upload fun pics throughout the year.
