What do you put...

Recommended Posts

For my 15 year old I will put things like:

snacks from the Asian market

They all get a tiny bottle of Asian soda (they are in clear plastic, but still cans and look really neat!)

movie tickets

Hobby Lobby gift cards

Copic markers (she's a manga artist)

Small art supplies (gum eraser,etc.)

For my little kids:

tape (yes, adhesive tape. They love it!)

homemade crayons made from melting down existing broken crayons and pouring them into old Rx bottles

cute socks

snacks

Everybody gets a new toothbrush, but only because Santa really REALLY cares about preventing tooth decay! :tongue_smilie:

- a disposable camera and small photo album

- small boxes of sweet cereal

- candy, stickers, a movie pass

- an old fashion theme; an orange, nuts, coins, candy

Keep it simple, I think half the fun is knowing the gifts are small (not overwhelming!)

Your post reminded me of the year my mom put flash cubes and film in my stocking. (Yes, I'm that old.:tongue_smilie:) We always opened our stockings first so I was seriously confused about these two items since I didn't own a camera. Mom didn't realize that by putting those two items in my stocking she'd be giving away the surprise of my new camera, which was still sitting under the tree.:D

We do this too. Growing up I ALWAYS got an orange in my stocking and I continued it with Indy. He also gets one in his St. Nick stocking.

Other things we put in are:

New Electronic Toothbrush

Small Lego sets

Gum

Candy

Chocolate coins (this goes in the St. Nick stocking too)

Silly Putty

Small books

Maybe a DVD

Gift cards, candy, money, Hot Wheels, gloves or socks, Anything small.

We've done all this. Plus sock monkies sticking out the top like they are trying to climb out.

The year they got cell phones, my husband and I each had ours ready to press their numbers to make their stockings "ring" at the right time. That was fun.

Some odd things that have wound up in the stocking;

A wooden spoon with her name on it the first year I started allowing her to mix her own cookies to bake. Another year she got her own oven mit.

Keychain Flashlight when she started staying up to read on weekends.

Funny buttons or bumper stickers.

And then nuts of any kind (especially pistachio or cashews) are a big hit with everyone here.
