An April Fool from the Library! This is FABULOUS!

Recommended Posts

This is posted on my library's home page. I LOVE this library!

The Hershey Public Library is pleased to announce activation of the Township's new 'non-usage fee' for library services.

Starting today, April 1st, all township residents who do not use library services at least once per month will be charged a random, but always exorbitant fee. Notification as to the amount of the fee will take place via an automated e-mail sent the first Saturday of the month.

The Department of Public Works will collect this fee in bright, neon-green bags to be placed curbside on the first Sunday of every month. These bags are available for purchase at $17.99/each at the Township Administration building (600 Clearwater Road), the Parks and Recreation Center, the party pavilion at Gelder Park (vending machine – cash and credit cards only, no checks) and, ironically but inevitably, at the library.

“The economy being what it is, we have to be creative in our financing,†states Barbara Ellis, Director of Library services. “It’s going to take a serious outlay of moolah if we want to make 1,000 iPads available for lending. We think the best way to pay for increasing our awesomeness is to charge the people unaware of our awesomeness. It’s that simple.â€
