My son-in-law needs prayer. Injured at work today by a truck ......

Recommended Posts

My oldest daughter is 24 and married. Her husband was injured at work today. The injury involved a truck but that's all I know.

Right this moment he is at a specialist. He's had x-rays and his jaw is broken. My daughter does not know yet how serious his injury is and whether or not he needs surgery.

Please pray for him.

Thank you very much.

My daughter just called and told me her husband will be having surgery tomorrow. His jaw is broken all the way through. Poor guy.He can't even talk right now. He is home now and writing things down for her. I will see them tomorrow. I'm going over to watch their children so my daughter can be with her husband at the hospital for his surgery.

He is having surgery at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. Pacific time.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Tuesday night update

Thank you , all of you, who have been praying for my son-in-law.

I forgot to tell you his name . It is Tim.

It was decided not to do the surgery, but to only wire his jaw shut. He had that done today. Right now they are thinking it will be 6 to 8 weeks before it can come out. He's had a difficult couple of days due to not being able to sleep or eat. He can eat a little now, but right now just liquids.

There is one thing that concerns me, and that is, he simply cannot get sick. You cannot throw up with your mouth wired shut. Just a couple of weeks ago both of their children were sick throwing up. I mentioned to my daughter that I think she should skip the birthday parties of her daughter's friends that are coming up,also not take her daughter to dance class. Basically do what she can to keep sickness out of the house for her husbands sake. She said she's decided no dance class until his wires come out.

There are some bands in his mouth that can be cut if he were to need that done but that still would only give him a very limited opening.

Please pray he heals well and that he does not catch anything that makes him sick.

Thank you all again,

Sherry

You might want to have your sil speak to his doctor about the getting sick issue. My bil had jaw surgery when he was young and my mil said he had a pair of wire cutters he kept with him at all time in case this happened. It seems pretty extreme to keep your grandkids from all outside activities for 6-8 weeks.

Oh, my thoughts go out to your family!!!!

Ds was kicked in the face by a horse and had to have 2 jaw surgeries. Everytime we go thru Sam's the other kids go, "Look Izzy, there's the Boost!!!!" In a total mischeivious way ;) He hates Boost now!!!!!

Do they have a good blender?

When I had to have my jaw surgery and my jaw was wired shut for 8 weeks... I had to wear a pair of small wire cutters on a string like a necklace. Granted I was in the Navy so it wasn't an option. But it was for my safety sake. So if I was in an accident or something, the EMS could cut the wires right then.

I was sent to a nutritionist who specialized in liquid diets. She helped me make sure I ate healthy and got plenty of vitamins to keep my healthy.

About throwing up, my doctor told me that if I got sick to my stomach to call him immediately or go to ER.

  • 3 weeks later...

This is an update on my son in law whose jaw was broken on Jan 24.

It was wired shut. Today he had a Dr. appointment and the Dr. said it is not lined up well enough to heal correctly. He's in pain all the time, and only sleeps a couple of hours each night. Today he was told he may be having surgery as soon as tomorrow to have plates put in to get it lined up so it can heal. The Dr thinks some of the pain is due to nerve injury but I don't know if the dr still thinks that after todays exam. The surgery has not been scheduled yet, as far as I know. But my daughter thinks he is having surgery. They considered doing surgery right at the start but didn't. I imagine they will finally go ahead and do it this time.

Thank you all for praying for him.
