Macrina
"WASHINGTON—According to a report released Monday by the U.S. Department of Education, an increasing number of American parents are choosing to have their children raised at school rather than at home." BikeBookBread
I love the Onion... Thanks, I'm thinking of school-homing this very minute :glare: as the girls are hollering at each other, as our large 3 cushion couch is apparently not big enough for two small girls under the age of 6.... Brilliant
Hilarious, thanks for sharing! We picked up an actual copy of The Onion a month or so ago - I had no idea it was a real paper! The kids and I were in stitches over one article, and now constantly refer to Stranger Vans when we see them on the street. :)

Pamela H in Texas
I think it's interesting that there are two ways to read that article. Obviously homeschoolers tend to choose one over the other. :) And I wish I had a clue how to do something like that myself!

Tree House Academy
"In addition to providing better supervision and overall direction, school-homing has become popular among mothers and fathers who just want to be less involved in the day-to-day lives of their children." :001_huh: :lol::lol: Even better.... "Though school-homing has proven to be an ideal solution for millions of uninvolved parents, increasingly overburdened public schools have recently led to a steady upswing in the number of students being prison-homed." My sides hurt from laughing so hard at the above comment. Edited March 30, 2010 by Tree House Academy

Dmmetler
Sad thing is, as a former public school teacher in an urban school, I can attest that there's more than a little truth here. We had some kids from 6:00 in the morning until after 6:00 at night, fed them three meals and a snack, supervised homework, and I swear that if we'd offered the parents the chance to let their child roll out a sleeping bag in the gym, they would have taken us up on it.
