  1. If it is a wolf hybrid you need to check the laws of your state. It is illegal to keep them as pets here and in many other states. My DD has a friend who keeps them in Another state, but they had to have a specially built enclosure and a permit.
  2. By the time I got to high school in the fall of 88 smoking was a big no-no here, but my older brothers graduated in 85 and 88 and they talked about being able to smoke and chew on campus. Chewing was even allowed in class by many teachers. I don't think there was a specific break for smoking, but there was a ten minute break between second and third period. When I was there the kitchen would have fresh baked bread and cookies just out of the oven at the ten minute break. This made the school smell heavenly. My standard breakfast was fresh warm bread smothered in butter.
  3. We have A small deck in the back that is completely enclosed. It's accessed from living room via French doors. It's not really big enough to entertain or anything on, but its a nice place hang out or have my morning coffee when it's warm out. We just have a covered walk in the front.
  4. I think its completely normal. My DS went through a stage at 6-7 where anytime I was making him do something he didn't want to do he'd say things like that. Once I figured out that he was looking for a reaction and I quit giving it to him he quit saying it.
  5. Maybe, the time of day does seem odd.Someone tries to run an ice cream truck around here every few years, but there must not be any money in it because I've never seen one two years in a row.
  6. Ridiculous! The buses in our district our contracted, but the school is still responsible for bus stop and bus riding behavior. I can't imagine the PD being happy about recieving calls for every little misbehavior. Many of our buses also have monitors to keep the kids in line so the driver can drive. This was my exp. too. The one time I remember the bus going back to the school in high school was for a paper fight (yes I wasinvolved, lol). There was a transfer student who was rumored to have switched schools from another local school after Getting caught performing se*ual acts on the bus, but it was big news in the rumor mill because it was unique.
  7. I voted no, but probably should have said other. I would love to help them If we can, but it's just not possible at the moment. Our oldest earned a scholars award from our state university system and has taken a minimum amount of loan money to cover the rest. My hope is that the other two will continue to work hard earn some scholarship monies, too. We can't afford to go into thousands of dollars in debt help them and I hope they can avoid taking much loan money themselves.
  8. The DS Lite is the standard DS and plays DS games and Gameboy advance games. The DSi and DSi Xlplays only DS games but it has a camera and more Internet capabilities (with parental control). The XL version has larger screens. There is also a 3DS. It plays standard DS and 3DS games. This one has gotten poor reviews. HTH
  9. We share a computer, but have our own email accounts and iPads, online shopping accounts are shared for the most part. We don't make a point of sharing passwords, but when the need arises we share passwords freely as neither of us has anything to hide.
  10. An 11 year old? I would go in with him and respect his privacy during more personal parts of the exam. At 11 I just don't think he is old enough to think of or ask any pertinent questions or accurately and fully answer any questions the doctor may have. At about 16 I started asking my DD what her preference was and she usually wanted me there. I also let her do most of the talking at this point so she could practice while i was there to hear and ask questions she may not have thought of. She has problems with ovarian cysts, and whenever they needed to physically examine her female parts I stood up by her top half and held her hand (her request), respecting her privacy while still being there for moral support. At 18 she still prefers to have me there when she visits the doctor. Come to think of it both DH and I prefer to have the other there when we have to go the doctor.
  11. We've had our LG four years now and still going strong. We have to clean the filter fairly regularly but we have several shedding animals in the house so it gets plugged with fur. We always buy the extended warranty on exspenive electronics and appliances and it has been a wise investment more than once.
  12. As a lefty I had to teach myself to cut using scissors in my right hand. If this isn't possible I would go online and order a pair of true left handed scissors. The ones that claim to be for both hands are just right handed scissors with a handle that can be comfortably held in both hands. HTH
  13. The owners desire to keep it quiet really makes me wonder if the dog has bitten before or she had reason to believe her dog was dangerous. I could see a nip if she startled or caused it minor pain while untangling the leash, but this most certainly was not a nip. If prior to this I truly believed the animal was not aggressive then I would take it to a vet to be sure there was no underlying medical reason for the sudden change in behavior. If that wasn't the case then, I hate to say it, but I would seek to have the animal put down myself. I will not own a biting dog. If I or one of my children were bit by some one else's dog I would most certainly report it. It may ruin a friendship, but as my dad used to say all the dogs in the world aren't worth one child's life.
  14. Thank you Mammaduck (i understood your post fine) and Eleanor. I tend to believe the government should stay out of the bedrooms and relationships of consenting adults no matter what their orientation. I'm not Christian and you will never convince that being gay is a choice. I have a friend from high school who struggled with his sexual orientation for several years before finally admitting to himself that yes he was gay. I saw the hurt in him after being rejected by his foster parents (the people who claimed to love and accept him as one of their own). Why would anyone choose to put themselves through that kind of pain? I dont in anyway hold all Christions responsible for actions of Phelps and others like him, but I do wish there more leaders of mainstream Christianity speaking out against the hate that is being perpetuated in the name of god. I know and love many Christians and it hurts me when I see all Christians being painted with a big wide brush because of the actions of a few and I do see this happening. I don't have a problem with people believing it wrong, freedom of religion and all that. I don't even have a problem with churches that don't allow homosexuals in a position of leadership if that is there belief. Not sure why someone who is gay would choose to attend a church like that when there are other churches more accepting of them. What I do have a problem with is Hate for any group just because they are different from you. I do have a problem with people whose actions are completely contradictory to the scriptures they claim to hold so dear. You know those parts about hating the sin not the sinner, love thy neighbor, and pulling the log out of ones own eye.
  15. I'm not sure. I do know of one case here where the hospital refused to release twins because they had received information that the couples housing was substandard. They had to make repairs and have the apt. Inspected by a public health nurse before they were allowed to take the babies home.
  16. Some of it I believe is the lack of facial exspession and tone, but I also think the anonymous nature of the Internet allows some people to be rude or say things they ordinarily wouldn't because there is no real consequence to it. I try to remember that I'm talking to real people with real feelings when I post on forums but there are many who don't.
  17. For those who believe that it is the s*x outside marriage that is the sin in homosexual relationships what do you believe is required to be married in the eyes of God? Is it the lisence issued by the state? Most states do not allow for homosexuals to get married. Would two people who make vows in front of family, friends, and god to love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives be considered married? To me the piece of paper has more to do with legal protection should the union end and also does allows for certain perks (taxes and insurance) but says absolutely nothing about the commitment two people have made to one another.
  18. Our kids are welcome to live at home as long as they need, but they must be doing something to move their lives forward. If they are working and not going to school then they will be expected to contribute to the household (unless it's truly needed though we would probably put it in savings for them). School, work, or whatever as long as they are working towards independence. My brother lived at home off and on until his early to mid- thirties because my mom enabled him. This is not something I want for my kids.
  19. :iagree: My OB gave me a choice. I could wait 2 weeks and still possibly need the D&C or have it done right away. There was just no way I could live in that kind of limbo for up to 2 weeks and keep my sanity. I just wanted it over with so I could heal and move on.
  20. :iagree: I've haven't had one in an OBs office, but when I had mine at the hospital after my miscarriage. The anesthetist asked about my preference in anestesia and I told him I didn't have one, but that whatever he gave me I expected it to completely knock me out. :grouphug:I'm so sorry:grouphug:
  21. Well, we tried a shock collar once and upon seeing it in action I took it off the dog and threw it in the garbage. I still firmly believe that what the Op's son did was wrong and the op should take it seriously, but I do think some here are a bit over the top. He is a 10 year old boy and this is one incident, not a pattern of behavior.
