  1. Oldest has her own first name but her middle name was my grandmothers first name. Middle has her own name all the way. Her first name has always been my favorite girls name. Ds has his own first name but shares his middle name with Dad, GF, Great GF, and Great Great GF, and before that it was a surname.
  2. 2 dogs - Buck (the oldest had just read Call of the Wild) and Jake 3 cats- Jamie, Ruby, and Little Girl 1 turtle - Misty
  3. Our DS is intact. We had planned to circ, but after talking to his Dr. in the hospital after he was born (she wouldn't do it until he was at least a week old) and doing a little research we just didn't see a need. When he is an adult he can make that choice (or not) for himself. I don't think he has ever even thought about his being different from dad's.:001_huh:
  4. 15yrs will be 16 in Oct. 18 yrs a couple in Sept.
  5. Oh! You are right. I guess I didn't look close enough at the first names. The brothers look and sound alot alike.
  6. Thank you, this was great.:hurray: I didn't realize he did children's music, I know he wrote Cats in the Cradle and Flowers are Red (another one that reminds me why we homeschool). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noVC5Jt2Gu8

  8. I would rather save the book for when it is age appropriate and then use it to discuss. In the case of Huck Finn the "N" word was acceptable at the time the book was written, so we would discuss how our societies beliefs and morals have changed and along with it the language. Just my 2 pennies
  9. I plan to use RS4K level one as our primary curriculum, will my 3rd grader get anything out of it or will it be completely over his head? Also to extend our study I wanted to add either Adventures with Molecules bk 1 (and possibly 2) or Fizz, Bubble and Flash. Is one of these more appropriate for this age group? or more fun? I keep going back and forth here. Honestly both look great but we cant do it all and I'd also like to squeeze in an Astronomy unit there somewhere.:001_unsure: TIA:001_smile:
  10. Have you tried Skip Count Kid from singnlearn.com? They have both a Bible version and a secular version. The music style is varied from song to song and it has been a hit here. HTH
  11. Thanks. It's one of my favorites and so true. :)
  12. Thank you! I think I will see if our library has copies of them and if they don't I'll check Ebay. I can always resell it if I decide it's not for us. akmommy
  13. Does anyone know of a website here I might be able to look at a sample or at least the table of contents or if it is a good solid program? Rainbow Resource only shows the covers and I am considering this for my DD next year but haven't been able to find much about it. TIA akmommy
  14. Well they kept my preschooler (when I had one) busy for a good 15 minutes or so while we got a little work done, he will still drag them out now and then to build forts and what not. Like Michelle said there were other math manipulatives we prefer when we are actually doing math.:)
  15. My youngest nephew was very small for his age till he hit puberty. Actually all the boys in my family are on the small side but my nephew was really small. At birth he and my oldest DD (they are five months apart in age) were the exact same weight and length but by 6 months old his growth just seemed to slow down to a crawl. He started kindergarten 2 weeks before his 6th b-day wearing 3 and 4T's. Until this last year my DD was always a good head taller then him, now they are about the same height. He was always very healthy though and his doctor never felt it was anything to be concerned about. HTH
  16. If you ever start feeling like you have the goofiest, craziest, most dysfunctional family in the world, all you have to do is go to a state fair. Because five minutes at the fair, you'll be going, 'you know, we're alright. We are dang near royalty.' -Jeff Foxworthy If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance. -George Bernard Shaw The great gift of family life is to be intimately acquainted with people you might never even introduce yourself to, had life not done it for you. ~Kendall Hailey Family is just accident.... They don't mean to get on your nerves. They don't even mean to be your family, they just are. ~Marsha Norman
