My oldest ended up with quite a few Social Studies credits due to Dual Enrollment. 9th- World Geography 10th- US History 11th & 12th Dual Enrollment, each 1 credit US History 1877-Present Government/Political Science Psychology Macroeconomics Microeconomics She also took an Art history class at college- not sure if it counted for a fine art or social studies. DD2 is just in 10th, so far 9th- World History (1) and World Religions (.5) 10th- US History to Reconstruction (1) 11th- US History Reconstruction to Present (not sure if this will be 1 or .5), and DE Political Science in Spring (1)

Hugs- I'm sorry. You just can't catch a break! When I'm feeling stressed out I try to mentally go over what *my* responsibilities in the situation are, what I can control or mitigate, and what is out of my control. We will always second guess ourselves, but there are often pieces that aren't our responsibility, things beyond our control. Recognizing those things and accepting them is hard. I also try not to think too far ahead- which is really hard for me.

W&R is a solid choice, my current favorite, but not all kids will like it. You may also want to look at Winning with Writing- you could get 5th grade and do it together easily.

So far I've had 4 kids do Saxon 87, and I had all of them also do Algebra 1/2. Not because they didn't learn the first time, because I don't want to argue about math at a time when kids hormones are wacky. My goal was to keep skills fresh and math easy for a year. 87 is the thickest Saxon book, and it doesn't always have the best explanations. If he liked MM6, try MM7. You may also want to look at the Arbor School books for a different approach.

Yes, 2 kids needed orthodontist right as Covid got bad, but the treatment really didn't need to be postponed. They got expanders and braces last summer. I just went to the dentist last week. Everyone is careful, cases are low here, and I am not worried.

I have one that freaks out over tests, so I decided to take her the first time and do a cold test. I assured her before we went that she would not pass, the goal for the day was to get a feel for what types of questions were on the test so that she knew what to study, to get familiar with where the test was, the room, testing conditions, etc.. We would do this trial test, then go home and study the book 📖 , and come back in a few weeks to take the test again and hopefully pass. It worked just as I thought. She did better on the trial test than I thought she would, but when she came home she had a much better idea of the types of questions on the test. No test anxiety, she wasn't completely confident she would pass, but she was comfortable with the process and passed! There were some online test prep questions, but we found them kind if confusing.

I dont think it matters what you call it, parents will still be upset that their kids are different. Every so many years they change the name, but the purpose is still the same.

There is a bad puke bug going around here, so I'd give him pedialyte and watch to see if he gets worse. I don't get worried until fever is closer to 104. Sleep, fluids, and I'd give Motrin or Advil next time. If he us seizing or gets dehydrated, then take him in.

I thought it would be required, and had already planned for my DD to get it. I've had her get several other boosters and vaccines, hoping to be finished with them in June! HPV, Hep A, Varicella booster, another meningitis- not all are required, but they are suggested for students in dorms. Living in such close quarters, its a good idea to go ahead and get them! I've never gotten a flu shot, but I already told her she should when living in the dorms.

Play doh or kinetic sand- if you do the sand you could buy a plastic bin to play it in- and a few trucks and loaders to drive around in it. When my boys were that age they played in a gravel pile everyday! Dump trucks, shovels, and buckets. I had the Kenetic sand in a tub for when it was too rainy!

When others deal with loss, I think the only thing you can say is "I'm sorry" There isn't anything you can do to prevent their pain, they must walk that journey themselves. The only other thing I do is offer help when uts someone close. A friend is going through a divorce and while I haven't gone through it myself, the only thing I can offer is childcare, an ear, and maybe a meal or occasional text- and not asking about the divorce!

I was always told that the insured should be the same as the owner on the car title, otherwise you are insuring a property that does not belong to you, which makes no sense! If you own a car you can add a non-owner as an insured driver to your policy, but you can't add a vehicle you don't own. To get around this, put the title in your name as well.

I think you've posted before that there was some reason she couldn't be held back- bc that would have been my first choice. I think your best option is the 4 year near your ILs. Its possible she could get a transfer scholarship next year after the CC, but that would be rolling the dice again.

At the very least, you should listen. I would push for STD testing if she is open to that. Hopefully by your listening snd encouraging her, she will pursue help once home. I would not tell anyone else, including parents.

Switch DH with you. What would have happened if you stopped in, paid the bill, and let them know it wasn't their fault or liability. I'm guessing they would tell DH that you already paid. If he sent an email follow-up, but the matter was paid for, I'm guessing there would be no answer. It isn't necessarily bc your DH us a man, it may be bc he sided where they wanted him to. The bill is paid, let it go- find a new place next time. You are just upsetting yourself- they already put the matter aside and are working on the next customer's car. That's not to say who was right or wrong- just stating that the matter is over on their part. Lesson learned for you- find a new mechanic.

Mom to many- we all do the same history and science every year, regardless of age. That means my 4th grader and 10th grader are doing the same time in history (currently Early American). As they get older, we get different materials, but having them all together means they watch the same movies, I try to pick a few read aloud everyone will enjoy, and they do similar mapwork. The older ones get much more in-depth, and the younger ones do much less and get to skip a lot of discussions if its over their heads. I think you will be surprised by your younger one! There are lots of picture books for American history! Just keep the output at age level and don't stress about it. I always start by getting stuff for my oldest, then find stuff the younger ones can do alongside. You didn't ask much about science, but I do the same thing. Plan out the oldest, figure out what the little one can do with us, look for a few extra fun books, tv shows (PBS has lots). If its something that the little one really isn't ready for, then I pick a different topic for that week or month for the little.
