  1. University of Florida has an online BS in computer science.
  2. CLEPs definitely have scores, it's not a pass/fail test. There are a set number of questions and a time limit, even essay questions on a couple of them.
  3. My son is currently taking his test at the only site within 50 miles that didn't cancel. He was so happy that he could finally take it and stop the prepping.
  4. Totally agree. Both of my sons did 5-6 tests using the free vouchers from modernstates. That's 15-18 credit hours for only the test center fee (we could have had that reimbursed, but didn't).
  5. Gravity Falls is the one with Dipper and Mabel spending the summer with their uncle in a town where lots of weird things happen. Haven is kind of sci-fi where a FBI agent goes to a small town in Maine where people have "troubles" that she helps control. I discovered it on Netflix and binge watched the series.
  6. Person of Interest Haven Big Bang Theory The Office Gravity Falls (kids)
  7. This is a protest in Orlando - hundreds of people, not socially distanced at all. Same thing happened in Jax, Tallahassee, Tampa, Miami, etc. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ne-george-floyd-protests-saturday-20200606-e2hmreb46zafzpk34mo62ndxw4-story.html
  8. Why not just get the TT Book to go along with the video lessons?
  9. I live in North Florida, Jacksonville metro area. 3,000 sq. ft., appx. $350,000 value, no flood insurance (not near enough to water to need it), and pay right at $1,000/yr.. We go through Progressive, do not have the house bundled with auto and have a low deductible w/ standard hurricane deductible. The price we pay is reflective of the house only being 6 years old, so it meets the highest hurricane building codes and is in an area of Florida that historically does not get direct hits. Put this exact house down in Tampa or Miami and we'd pay 4x the cost, easily. How difficult it will be to find a company to issue insurance depends on mainly two things - location and how old your roof is. The closer you are to the coasts, the further south you are and your roof being over 5 years old make finding companies more difficult.
  10. When we started getting weird stuff showing up (baby related stuff when no one here was looking at it), it turned out to be Comcast turning on our free wi-fi hotspot remotely each night. My DH had to go in each morning to turn it off.
  11. In Florida, any college credit earned before high school graduation does not count towards excess credits.
  12. Mine get good student discounts. The really big jump is totally normal.
  13. FLVS is not affiliated with Connections Academy anymore, only a few county virtual schools are. FLVS FT and Flex uses its own proprietary curriculum from K-12 now.
  14. My son took geometry before taking the SAT, but I am not sure how heavy those topics are on the test. Have her take a practice SAT and ACT to see which one she does better on, then use Khan for practice on shaky topics.
  15. Since you mentioned Bright Futures, I assume you're in Florida. Homeschoolers only have two requirements for the scholarship, SAT scores (which are increasing next year) and volunteer hours. Only public and private school students have course requirements.
  16. Here in Florida, if the community is gated the roads are considered private. That means the HOA is responsible for any repaving work and the sewer lines under the road. In the last year, my community has spent over $60,000 fixing sewer line problems. In about 5 years, we will have to repave the roads to the tune of $250,000. As a member of my board, we are constantly explaining costs like this to people who want to reduce the yearly assessment. We are trying to put enough into reserve to not have to do a special assessment when the road work happens. We are only 100 houses, so that would really hurt. I can guarantee that the developer didn't talk about those kind of expenses to people buying houses here. An easy way to find out where the money is going is to ask for a copy of the financial report, it should be public.
  17. You should definitely ask the kids first. I have two boys, 15 &17, who share by choice, and I do have 5 bedrooms. We assumed they would want to separate as they got older. At least it gives me lots of space for a library/schoolroom, a computer room, and a guest room.
  18. Keep the master for yourself, put two younger kids in the other bedroom, and the two oldest girls in the fireplace room.
  19. Make sure to do the application during his senior year, anyway (super simple application, took maybe five minutes). If he changes his mind and decides to come back to a FL school, it can be reinstated in later years.
  20. That SAT score and 100 volunteer hours would get him the top level of the Bright Futures scholarship, which can be used at any college in Florida. It wouldn't cover the full cost of Eckerd, but it would certainly help.
  21. I've had great success with the supplement DIM to help with the hot all over, all the time feeling.
  22. This. Your water isn't hot enough.
