Tax Implications of Working Remotely for a Company - help needed
CinV replied to cjzimmer1's topic in The Chat Board
My husband works for a company based in Michigan, while we lived in Texas and now in Florida. We have never paid a penny of state income tax to Michigan. He travels to the home base at least once a year. -

Soarin is at Epcot and is amazing, my kid who hates all roller coasters and jerky rides loved it. Test track is really cool, too. -

Anyone in or around St. Augustine, FL, with recommendations?
CinV replied to StaceyinLA's topic in The Chat Board
The best beach in St. Augustine is at the state park (Anastasia). The Red Trolley tours are great for being able to ride around the tourist part of the city, hopping on and off at different stops to do things. Their home base for parking is Ripleys museum. Can't help with hotels, as I live too close to use them, but anything close to Anastasia should be fairly nice and safe. If the beach is your biggest priority, you might want to look at Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, Fl or Jekyll Island, GA. Both are pretty, not so tourist oriented, and easy to get to from Kingsland. -
CLEP Western Civ or US History - are REA guides best?
CinV replied to klmama's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
My son used the REA Guides (with the online practice quizzes) for US Hist I and II and passed both. Lots of preloaded questions on quizlet for both exams, also. -
Algebra on the computer or online

We use Teaching Textbooks discs and online, but I have always made my sons write out every problem (on a whiteboard) before they are allowed to pick an answer. You get the retention from writing with the convenience of online. -
My son is using Khan academy (taking the June SAT).

Rubber mulch or stone plus gardening advice for zone 9
CinV replied to umsami's topic in The Chat Board
I live very near to you and have had good luck with sedum. It's a spreading ground cover with yellow or red flowers. We use the red lava rock in our beds because the rubber mulch does float away and it fades. -
Dr. Hive, what is wrong with my mouth? Is it cankers?
CinV replied to Kanin's topic in The Chat Board
I would guess allergic to the new toothpaste or possibly thrush. -

Yes, they sent out an email a few days ago. I think the last day is at the end of May, so print any records you need before then. ETA - This only applies to live classes -
I went to a local MyEyeDr shop. I have astigmatism and progressive lenses also, that shouldn't change the weight. When my youngest son got to the -8 area, we changed his lenses to the 1.74 from the 1.67 and saw a huge difference in the thickness.
-
There are 2 grades of hi-index lenses; 1.67 & 1.74. There is an amazing difference in weight/thickness between the two. My prescription is in the -13 range and my glasses aren't nearly as thick as the picture from TechWife. Anybody over -8 should go for the 1.74, it's totally worth the extra money.

They have the House Hunters: Where are They Now shows. They focus on the hunters who planned to do renovations to the house they were buying. -
On-line courses (Not college credit) for a young adult?
CinV replied to TheReader's topic in The Chat Board
Udemy has tons of classes in every subject and they are always having sales. We have never paid more than $15, no matter what the class is listed for. -
I would ask what district they are registered through and check the FL DOE private school registry. If they are not on that list, you absolutely do need to register as a homeschooler. If you're interested in dual enrollment, tuition is free for homeschool students in all the state schools, but you have to pay for books.
-
You have to register as a homeschooler because they are not registered with every states department of education as a private school. And FYI, they have "accredited" themselves right now. They are trying for a different accreditation, but haven't received it yet.

Small SUV recommendation for DD (she was in a fender bender)
CinV replied to sheryl's topic in The Chat Board
I drive an Equinox. They are extremely safe and easy to drive. Parked next to my husband's Altima, they are roughly the same length. Chevy has a smaller suv, the Trax. I needed the legroom in the back for my boys long legs. -
We always used many sons (southern baptist).

You don't have to go to an orthodontist for invisalign. Check with your regular dentist to see if they offer it. Our family dentist did my son's for about 60% of what the ortho charged. His permanent retainer is exactly like his last set of trays but a little sturdier. The only way the teeth are going to move is if you aren't wearing the tray each night.

Yes, it is typical but I have seen people find out what books their child was using and buy a cheap used one on Amazon so that they do have something to read/study from at home.
-
Yes, absolutely. I can't believe this was ever made legal.
