  1. NT = NeuroTypical (not NT = has some special needs)
  2. My nephew was in it for 1/2 year, but didn't like it. He isn't/wasn't too keen on school in the first place, and it was the first year they offered it, so I think they probably have had some time to work the bugs out. I think the trick is to not get behind the pace schedule (which I don't believe was extremely hard), or it feels like you will never get caught up. I did want to tell you that the information you have on FLVS is totally inaccurate, especially if you use the Flex (homeschool) option. You get a pace schedule, and you do have calls with a teacher (should be no more than once a week unless your student is having trouble), but you do not have to sit in front of a computer for 6 hours a day at certain times. They are having a bunch of online info sessions in the next few weeks you might want to look into to get more accurate information.
  3. I totally agree. Everyone jumping on the adverse possession bandwagon is telling the OP the knowingly steal property that isn't hers.
  4. State Universities of New York (aka - state schools)
  5. I agree. She could have sat in a corner and kept the dress pristine, but what kind of memory would that have been.
  6. Yes, it helps to research transfer agreements beforehand. I went to CC in FL and every single one of my 64 hours transferred to UF (and would have transferred into any state university without an issue).
  7. Transitions lenses don't work in cars, so I use the wear over sunglasses when driving. They make somewhat smaller options now than when they first came out. The only option other than those or the clip-ons is to order a second pair that are always tinted to switch into when you want the sunglasses option.
  8. That would be 1 activity, but they don't all have that many videos. I would say a 1/2 hour per lesson activity is pretty average, but quiz's only take about 5 - 10 minutes and tests 20 to 30 minutes.
  9. The high school Physical Science has 249 activities spread over 22 chapters. Activities can be an actual lesson, an authentic task (mostly PhET Simulations or other demonstrations), a quiz, or a test.

I live in a private community and we have "Drive as if your children live in this neighborhood." on every speed limit sign. I only wish that everyone did.
  11. There was a thread started by Kinsa last year about non superstar students. It was a great read. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/539405-updated-does-anyone-on-this-board-have-a-non-superstar-high-school-student/?view=findpost&p=6255942&hl=relaxed
  12. River City Unschoolers has a facebook group that is inclusive and has park days.
  13. Mr. G's on Blanding has a good selection of costumes. I've purchased multiple halloween costumes for my boys there. If you don't find something there, the Make Believe place is less than 1/2 a mile away down Blanding (towards Middleburg).
  14. Why doesn't she drop from Honors to regular Bio at school? Kids change from one level to the other all the time.
  15. PeeWee is super strict about weight limits now. Every player is weighed before every game, in full gear (except helmets). A player who is above max by even an ounce will not be allowed to play (they use digital scales). Every team my son has been on has had players at max weight because coaches encourage players to stay in a lower level if at all possible.
  16. Tryouts here are held a few weeks after school ends, but homeschoolers have to have all kinds of additional paperwork in to the coach in early spring.
  17. At my local Jr. High (in FL), there are tryouts and it is intense. Practices are 2x a day until school starts, every school day after that until games start, then 4 days a week after that. Football is all consuming during the season (even at the Pop Warner level, which starts at 5) it fills the months between August 1 through late October/early November, depending on if your team made playoffs. .
  18. It is up on the bjupresshomeschool.com website now. Click on the green bar at the top that says Save on Distance Learning.
  19. Essentials in Writing is having a 50% off scratch and dent sale starting Cyber Monday.
  20. The Chart House is a great choice. River City Brewing Company is another one that is good for a special dinner.
  21. Out Normandy Blvd. you have Cecil Commerce Center that has lots to do (bowling, homeschool PE classes, great (cheap) golf course), etc. There is also the new equestrian center if you like horses.
  22. They have added lessons (over a dozen according to the website) and more problems.
  23. The library should have practice books for the SAT and ACT with practice tests inside.
