  1. I've never been to a mini Maker Faire before, but have been to a Maker Faire before. And I'll have to tell you that they have some cool stuff! The kids, my husband and I really enjoyed seeing new inventions (and I'm not into technology :) ). We went for 2 days and didn't finish looking at all the stuff we wanted too. For the kids it's inspirational because they can see things that they can learn how to do instead of just assuming everything comes prepackaged. Thanks for this post because I just found one near me! I'm excited! :hurray:
  2. I'm doing ffl 1 and wwe 1. Mainly because I didn't know about eltl. Lol
  3. Looks good. I pay bills after the kids go to sleep. I think people do history 2xs a week and science the other 2 days. Good luck and happy homeschooling!
  4. Thank you for sharing. I'll have to check it out.
  5. If you are done with the book, then he can continue to read out loud to you. IMO I think reading good literature books to him everyday is essential. There are also audiobooks for him to listen to. Lit2go.com has some free ones. You could also do five in a row if you want. This will introduce some literary elements and just a different way of looking at books. I plan on reading teaching the classics and probably start teaching it when mine are about 8 (depending on their reading level). Now some would say to start later, but it's up to you. I've started AAS just to cement his phonics. I've also found that not every spelling curriculum is the same. Hth
  6. Dick van dyke was in a show called diagnosis murder I believe. If I remember correctly he was a medical examiner/pathologist. He solved murders in that profession. I loved that showed. It made me want to be a pathologist, but I couldn't handle the dead bodies. :) I also second psych.
  7. Real science odyssey by pandia press. You'll have to buy some stuff from walmart ahead of time, but otherwise it's open and go.
  8. I'm sorry, but mine expired last Monday, the 25th. I'm assuming others did as well?
  9. Well, I thought that that is what this forum is for! Lol I need a coach, but don't know if I'll have time for this. Lol Looks like a great thing though.
  10. Around the world in 8o days. How about the Xanth series by Piers Anthony? It's not great literature, but fun books to read. It's fantasy.
  11. No problem! Life happens. :) Sorry to hear about the death........ It's always a good idea to bounce ideas off one another. Thanks for all the hard work you have put into it.
  12. I forgot about kids putting things in their mouths. We have the wooden c rods. How about magna tiles? My kids love to build with those.
  13. I'll have to writing road to reading too. He seems to like pentime so far.
  14. If he's not a kinesthetic learner, then phonics pathways. Very thorough and no sight words.
  15. The Little House series. There is also the First Little House series that are picture books.
  16. Peace hill press is having a scratch and dent sale right now. I don't know when it ends. 60% off.
  17. I guess I should say that it's not a curriculum. Just science on dvd.
  18. Wow! You are busy! You are so blessed to have 5 kids. I only have 3. I feel for you.......I can see why you are contemplating sending one of your kids to public school. One thing you may want to consider is will your 4 year old feel left out? If I'm understanding this correctly you'll have your then 8, 7, 3, and 2 year old at home? Is there any way you can lighten your load this year? combine history? do less science? Next year will be a whole new ballgame. Your then 8 year old may be doing more work independently. Your then 2 year may not be clinging to your side. .....who knows? Every family is different. If this is what you need, then this is what you'll have to do. I think it'll all work out. :) Good luck. This is supposed to be a fun journey not a stressful one. :)
