  1. I think I will extend grace. When I start a new program it usually takes about a month before all the dates and time click into lace. You may want to just send a text the day before confirming your times.
  2. I was going to suggest the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society. Really good
  3. I think the best way is to address the issue head on with the coach explaining what you are doing etc. you really do not owe the coach any explanation but it does open things up so it is not as if you are doing anything wrong.
  4. I just finished reading the book "what Alice forgot" and the same thing happened. The mom married the FIL But not to derail, hugs to you
  5. I don't know what area of goergia the OP's cousin is. But here just north of Atlanta, drug use and alcohol use is rampant among the teens. There has been numerous reports of parents buying their teens alcohol at their parties etc. it is really bad. I have heard of homeschool kids smoking and the parents not being aware of it. Homeschooling or not does shelter kids from influences. Unfortunately, even vigilant attentive parents sometimes miss the clues so it is really hard. I just pray my kids don't fall prey to it. I can't chain them to myside 24/7.
  6. That is one smart girl. At least it means she is not badly hurt
  7. That is so cool. Hope you get to use it with the other kids. Mine are not old enough to appreciate it yet.
  8. Wow. That must be hard dealing with. At least your Dh her brother knows she is a flake. Hope your kids were able to get some lunch
  9. Praying for you and your dd. hope you are ale to get better help for her with the docs
  10. Like everyone else has said, I think you did quite well for first year. Most people take the first year to decompress after PS but you were able to achieve so much more. You need to reevaluate your goals and keep in mind where you are starting from. Your son had zero knowledge of world history and has now almost finished 2 cycles in one year. Success. I think you did a good job and you just need to make sure your goals align with what you need to accomplish not always what you hope to accomplish.
  11. They should go on the London eye. They will see so many sights and a then decide what else they want to see.
  12. Do what you can do but please pace yourself out. It is a season, soon our kids will be old enough to help and it wouldn't always be this way forever. You need to take your health into consideration and not wear your self out.
  13. Good for you both. It is always good when you see how much they have progressed within a year. Sometimes dealing with them day in day out, we can't see it but when we look at where they have started, then we see how much they have accomplished. Congrats
  14. Congrats on all the explore scores.
  15. If you want to visit the White House or the pentagon, you need to contact your senator like yesterday. They are free but you need to have tickets and they are sometimes out months in advance especially if you are going in the summer as it gets quite busy.
  16. I think I will find it hard to send a 12 yr old to college these days when there are just so much more options. Kids can take college level classes at home to get more depth. Wen I look at what some kids on the Intel ISEf etec are doing, am just amazed. I hint there is a vast difference between having a child in college at 16 versus at 12. Some 16 yrs old are able to handle it well and succeed but I am not sure of a 12 yr old.
  17. I will say it is better to stretch out Mep 4-6over 2 years. I have found mep to be very solid and it is very hard to rush through it. One thing you might want to consider that will help is getting her into a math circle or math club for elementary and doing math competitions. I think it really helps the kids to start thinking about math as they are encountering different questions on the same topics that they have covered. My ds1 has just finished Mep 5 and will be doing Mep 6 and aops prealgebra concurrently so I am not sure when she will fish. Se loves math but also find it sometimes challenging. It is definitely note easy but not frustrating.
  18. I don't see why you can't start prealgebra in the fall if he places in it. Prealgebra reviews all the arithmetic that he has learnt before going into algebra.
  19. Praying for her and for all the people treating her.
  20. When I stay with family for long,I usually will do some shopping buying mostly what brands they use. They mostly do not ask me to but it is just a gesture we do. I have never stayed for longer than 2 weeks so can't say about paying for utilities. Some people might find it helpful but others might be annoyed by it. I guess it just depends on the relationship.
