  1. I'm in awe of anyone who can sing well, especially young ones. They did a great job!!!
  2. I think that this could be the case but it really comes down to the character of the people you are giving the money / help to. I have received help from my parents but it has not been monitory help. We also received help from our church which was monitory but it was not on-going and it was for a specific hard unemployed time that we were experiencing. One of the same friends who helped us out, has helped out his sis for a number of years and he feels that he has enabled her and has done her a great disservice in the long run. It is hard when you love the person and are wanting to help.
  3. I voted for 8 before I really read your definition. They started sounding out words at 4 and 5 but my oldest still struggles with reading and is being tutored. He does fine with short common words but struggles decoding larger words and long passages. I think that he gets discouraged when he sees longer books and gives up before he begins.
  4. I use the extra practice, not the intensive practice, because my kids just need to do more of the same not harder questions. As Kate said, it depends on what you are looking for.
  5. I majored in French in College but my husband wanted the boys to learn Spanish because there are so many Spanish speakers around here. They are learning Spanish. ;) We found a great Spanish teacher who is patient with wiggly boys and she doesn't charge an arm and a leg. :)
  6. I'm about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours away. I might drive over for the sale, especially if I can get a friend to drive with me. :p
  7. Okay, This is for anyone who would be interested in traveling to Rockford, IL. Does anyone know how I can change the thread's title?? :)

  9. Thanks everyone for your quick replies!! :)
  10. When does their sale begin? Can you get the sale on-line or just through them directly? Does anyone have their number?
  11. Thanks for the update. I hope Pauline continues to make remarkable progress in her healing!!!!:)
  12. Welcome Sophia Grace!!! A very beautiful name for a sweet baby girl.
  13. It was in the high 50s today, maybe even very low 60s. It was and is great BUT we are expecting snow again this week. I like snow but I've had enough and after the teasing warm weather today..... :(
  14. My husband had this done 5 years ago and he said it was the best decision that he had ever made (other than marrying me, of course :p ).
  15. I was sent these instructions in an e-mail. Our pug doesn't want to help us out - he must be on strike! :D
  16. because of the prices. If you feed your family, mainly whole grain and fresh foods it isn't the place to go. I purchase granola bars, fruit snacks, cerial, canned veggies and or fruits, some mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, stuff that you may call junk there. They do have limited fresh fruit and meat but I purchase that elsewhere. They do have a newer "fit and healthy" brand with lower sugar or salt as the case may be.
  17. Some people actually comprehend more when listening to music. I personally don't understand it but I'm told that it is true. As long as he is doing the work and able to pass tests or do the assignments, I'd let him be.
  18. I agree, stay home!!! You don't even have to worry about them remembering next year...they would have to remember 4 years from now! :)
  19. I'm assuming that he remembers everything as he called Sayid by his name at the end when he said it was enough time with Penny. But I'm confused..... I don't remember Desmond saying anything about the army in his past flashbacks. I thought that he broke up with Penny and pretty much went on his sailing trip to win money and the respect of her father? Also Desmond was flash forwarding after the accident/ blow up... Does that stop now too or just the flash backwards that he was experiencing? Why would going backward kill him but not his visions going forward? Hmmmmm
  20. We have a now 7 year old pug. He has had some skin problems but no eye issues yet.
  21. Great way to handle this situation!!!! You did and are doing a good job from which your son benefits. :)
  22. I was going to suggest these as well. I'm going through them with my 10ds who is also being tutored in reading. I would suggest making flashcards of the rules at the beginning of each lesson and reviewing them every couple of days. It is too easy for my son to do the work without thinking about the rules. When he stuggles with a word, I remind him of which rule he is using or needs to use.
  23. Great pictures. I'd love to see and show a wild eagle to the boys.
  24. My ds, now 10, had an expander. It was amazing to watch his front teeth straighten even without braces. We are currently waiting for all his adult teeth to come in to get his full set of braces. Expanding his palate has helped his breathing.
