  1. I used to buy a lot but then not use it. I can't keep doing that so if it is something that I can find at the library or a reasonable substitute, I use the library instead of buying it. If it was music that you might enjoy having anyway and not just use for school then it would be worth purchasing it. If money isn't a concern, then take a chance. We all waste our money on something so you can choose to possiblely waste yours on curriculum. Wow... all that is clear as mud, isn't it!
  2. Very nice. I wish that I was a funner mom so I could make a cake like that for my boys. ;)
  3. Yes, this season is good because you feel like you are getting answers even though you aren't. ;)
  4. they have found a way to keep him from dying. The ship's communication officer didn't last long after being exposed to ???? and Desmond's nose started bleeding pretty quickly.
  5. You guys are great and have given me a lot to think about. My head is about ready to explode. My ds had his tonsils and adnoids removed when he was 3, he had speaking delays and currently is going through speech therapy. J is also being tutored in reading where the tutor thought that he may have either auditory or visual processing issues. I had our family doctor swab his nose today because I think that he has, once again, an infection or strep in his nose. J is also very uncoordinated and looks funny when attempting basic calisthentics. It sounds like a neuro doctor is where I should begin. Thank you everyone for your thoughts. If there are any others, I'd like to hear them. :bigear:
  6. Did you see a Neuologist or Psychiatrist when thinking about medicating? Is there a difference? Which is recommended and why? Thanks from this nervous mama. :001_unsure:
  7. I felt bad for David and hope that he isn't voted off so that he has a chance to redeem himself. The country (song) version was terrible. It felt like she and the music were in a race. I changed the chanel. I didn't care for David Hernandez either last night.
  8. Wow that is scary. It is a blessing that your 11 year old was there. I'm praying for your little guy.
  9. I have. They have always tasted just fine when thawed or not.
  10. Eliptical!! I loved mine when we had it. Finances got tight so we had to sell it. I wish we still had it...at least the Y has a couple that I can borrow! :)
  11. That is great!! :D I'm glad it worked out. I bet you are looking forward to those mini-retreats with dh! ;)
  12. Thanks for posting these. Are there going to be other segments? Are these airing now on the Morning show? I'd like to see the others if there are others to be seen.
  13. It is hard to homeschool with no support and would even be harder if your spouse was opposed to it. I wouldn't recommend homeschooling in the situation that you described.
  14. Yes, I'm buying the same sort of stuff and my bill always seems to be about $20- $40 more every two weeks. I'm going to have to increase my budget or really buy just what we need, not what we want.
  15. I was going to suggest Land's End as well or any place where you can mix and match tops and bottoms. I know that Kohl's have mix and match tops and bottoms and these are not just bikinis.
  16. Normally I don't leave my children alone 10, 8 and 3 but I left my 8 year old alone for 20 min for the first time the other day (the 3 year old came with me of course). He just didn't want to go with me to pick up his brother so it was easier to leave him for those 20 minutes. I didn't worry about the question...What if something happened to me?...because my dh was on his way home from work. :D He arrived home 5 minutes after we returned.
  17. We work whenever dad works so we do school during the summer. Although during the summer, we do take a lot of field trips and cut it down to the basics.
  18. Do you know why? It seems a little strange.
  19. You can also order from Milestone Ministries and recieve the 10% off. You have to tell them in the comment line as you check out to please apply the sale. They charge you then credit it back but you don't get the free shipping that Rod and Staff is offering right now. I just ordered from them and they shipped the same day. :)
  20. Great story. I had my last one at 39 and don't think that I would be ready for another one at 44. Although as they said in the article, "God doesn't give us more than we can handle." :)
  21. The article assumes that people only homeschool for religious reasons or those who activities don't allow them to school normally ie gymnasts and actors. They left out a lot of this board who homeschool (secularly or otherwise) for educational reasons.
  22. Great cage!!!! I wish that we had the room to have a bigger cage. We have a 2 X4 grid cage with a 4X1 grid upper level for all the food and water stuff. Upstairs, I have Cel-Sorb litter but down below it is all fleece. I love the fleece as it is so much easier to keep clean. I or the kids dust bust the little poops every day.
  23. We have 3 guinea pigs in a C&C cage which is approx. 28" X 56". http://www.guineapigcages.com/index.htm and http://www.guinealynx.info/index.html are two site from which I recommend for getting guinea pig information. The how to build information on a C&C cage (which is the cheepest way to go) is in the upper left hand corner of the first site's home page. Like the previous poster, I'm afraid your son might be allergic to guinea pigs as well. Definately check that out first. I'd say that you'd want 2 guinea pigs as they are herd animals and do better with a friend. My boys go through spots of playing with the pigs an ignoring them so it is nice to know that the pigs aren't lonely when the boys don't want to play. We have the minimum space required for 3 pigs not the recommended. The bigger the cage the easier it is to keep clean. I use fleece bedding with mattress pads underneath and Cell-sorb under the "kitchen" area. This helps cut down the cost of the bedding. Guinea pigs do need vitamin C but you don't need to purchase supplements unless they are sick. If you give them vegetables including green and yellow peppers, they will get all that they need. The first web site (forum section) has a list of vegetables and fruits which are good for guinea pigs. Sorry that this is disjointed. I'm not fully awake. I hope that these sites at least will help you find the information that you need. :)
  24. What a scary and confusing time for her dh and children. I will pray for them. :(
