The Controversy of the Decade Settled: Which is Cheaper?
kewb replied to TranquilMind's topic in The Chat Board
I use them for different things. I love them both. -
Is anyone using Healthcare.gov and did you get your renewal?
kewb replied to Scarlett's topic in The Chat Board
If you switched insurance after that heart attack all expenses related to that heart attack would be considered a pre-existing condition and insurance would not cover it. Follow up testing would not be covered. Pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition. There have been years I had to pay for my thyroid prescription out of pocket for one year because it was a pre-existing condition. The ACA made it so insurance companies could no longer deny coverage for a pre-existing condition. -
Did you have wood or sheet metal shop in school? What did you make?
kewb replied to lynn's topic in The Chat Board
I think we had both but I took wood shop. So long ago that I have no idea what I made. Nothing impressive, that's for sure. Although I did make a lucite ice scraper in one of my shop classes and my mother used it until she moved to Arizona. -

All the laundry is done together. And I usually do it. However, everyone knows how to work the machines and if they need something and I don't have time they can throw in a load and take care of it. As for the socks, dh has one style and ds another. All the same color. Black or white. Dd and I share socks of the same style so it doesn't matter whose drawer they land in.

I really had to think about this question. For the people I know personally it is about even for adults over 40 and kids. A hodge podge of different allergies and intolerances: peanuts, fruit, poultry, corn, sesame seeds, gluten, and dairy.

I will be renewing through the market place. My premium for my current plan is going about 15%. I will price compare tomorrow. There are only 3 viable options in my state. -

I know you're not supposed to put a kid on a diet, but...
kewb replied to TKDmom's topic in The Chat Board
Rule out medical, such as her thyroid and or food intolerance. Make sure she knows you value her for who she is not her weight. Do not be the food police. Prepare healthy meals and include her in meal planning.. Do not comment on what she is or is not eating. Limit or remove junk food from the house. Everyone changes their eating habits. You can't have junk in the house for hubby and/or child b and tell child a they can't have it. -
I understand your feelings. I am snuggling with my foster failure dog right now. I did not allow a dog for the longest time because I knew I would be the one who would end up taking care of it. I would probably take the kitten if I knew for sure it would be gone in a month or if it would end up in a shelter. You have every right not to feel put upon to take the kitten if you feel strongly about it and you shouldn't be made to feel guilty for not wanting to take on a kitten.

What was your favorite Halloween treat to get as a kid? Least favorite?
kewb replied to umsami's topic in The Chat Board
Favorite-Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, $100,000 Bar, Charleston Chew. Tossed in the trash: Mary Janes, Candy Corn, anything peanut butter. I don't recall my parents doling it out. I do remember coming home and trading with my cousins. I also remember the razor blade in the apples, and pins in the candy. No one X-rayed the candy but parents definitely checked when the scares occurred. -
Oh, no pumpkin carving. I did it when they were little a couple of years because they liked it. Hated every blessed moment of it. The squirrels end up destroying them so I bought a ceramic pumpkin. Now I am so jaded I don't decorate anymore.

I always leave it blank and it has not been an issue.

My dh (the ultimate Trekkie) says these 4 episodes best show what Roddenberry was trying to convey in 1960's America. 1. City on the edge of forever 2. Let that be your last battlefield 3. The devil in the dark 4. This side of Paradise He has nothing against the trouble with tribbles episode as he finds it very funny but he is not going to assume that just because she is a 13 year old girl that she is looking for something light hearted. He feels the above give the breath and depth of what stat trek is all about. He just tacked on. 5. The omega glory

How does your physician's office handle medication refills?
kewb replied to mellifera33's topic in The Chat Board
Change in government regulation has affected a couple of my husband's scrips. The pharmacist tells me if the doc office said he has to go in for an appointment. Once the appointment is scheduled I can get enough of a refill until the appointment. It is kind of a pain but at the same time the doc needs to speak with you to make sure everything is working as it should. -
Do you/Would you periodically check texts to and from your 13 yo child?
kewb replied to Hyacinth's topic in The Chat Board
Our rule during the teen years is mom and dad had to have all of your passwords and we reserve the right to look at any and all of it. At 13 we definitely checked periodically to make sure they were being responsible. Now it is more of a "I will only check if I think there is something being hidden from me that may be dangerous". -
I have a basic $25 black and decker model from when I got married 24 years ago. Works great for soup and for making mayonnaise.

I have used old salad dressing bottles, a cruet, a mason jar. No matter what I use I seem to have dressing dripping down the sides.

Yep, Dawn dish detergent once a week. Works great. I have also found rotating the shampoo between a few brands helps, too. Right now my dd is using tresemme. She switches it up with the suave and the trader Joe's.

I can't stand that movie. My dh likes it.
