  1. Tara, life with my oldest was a roller coaster. When she was 10 months old her dad and I split. She and I lived with my mom and dad. When she was six her dad and I remarried and moved far away from my parents. She and her dad butted heads, we took her away from the only life she knew, and then we added siblings. At 10 she went into pre-puberty and we were totally unprepared. She was unhappy, moody, and unkind to her siblings. She frequently told us that she couldn't wait to move out. When she was 19 an opportunity for her to move out on her own presented itself and we jumped at the chance. From that moment she moved out she has had a different relationship with her siblings which has been an absolute relief. She was so kind to them that they were in shock for awhile. She is not the same person she was. Our relationship has its ups and downs but it is amazing to me that she chooses to be around us. I hope the same happens for you and your daughter in the near future. :grouphug:
  2. Those were some of THE creepiest bunny costumes I've ever seen. But #40 was crazy!
  3. One bathroom Two teenage girls Since we homeschool, we stagger showers throughout the day. If a couple of family members both need a shower, 16yo chooses to go last as she knows she takes long showers and will use up the hot water. Added: My girls are also very good about asking if they can take a shower. I know it sounds weird to ask permission, but they want to make sure that I don't need hot water for the washing machine or dishwasher.
  4. I have not attended church for several years. I have one family member who tries to persuade me to attend on religious holidays. Personally, I don't believe it is more important to attend on one particular worship day during the year than another.
  5. Thanks for letting me know what your experience was. :)
  6. I recently completed a 10 day juice fast (mainly kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, apples, and lemons). The day after ending my fast, I started my cycle a week early (heavier flow and more cramping than usual). My first guess is that starting my cycle early is due to the severe cut in calories over the 10 day span and not related to juicing. Ladies, if you juice, have you noticed any difference in your cycles?
  7. You are an awesome mom! About May there will be a "slug fest" in our yard and we won't be able to walk through it without stepping on one. I guess that is mating season? We did get to watch a slug laying its eggs a couple of years ago. It was pretty cool. One thing I would not encourage is letting your kids hold them. Slug slime is nearly impossible to get off!
  8. When I was a kid in the 70's we would crawl out of bed, drag our pillows and covers into the living room, and watch conference on television. We were not happy when that ended and we had to go to the chapel and listen to audio only while sitting on hard benches with no padding (not a standard church building). When my oldest was 8(?) we would drive to the ward building (20 min. drive) and watch conference on a screen. It was too far to go home, so we brought food and ate at the building between sessions. It made for a long day. It was tough and I only had one child to keep happy. All that to say, I don't blame you for keeping the kiddos home!
  9. Good ideas! Our usual is letting the kids make forts in the living room and eating lots of junk food. Last time(?) DH taped up the poster of church leaders by the television and had the younger one mark it as the different leaders spoke. My kids are getting older, so it isn't quite as hard as it used to be. I think I'll probably see some knitting going on this weekend.
  10. You might want to look at Learn Math Fast. I have not used it but one of our board members has. Here is her review.
  11. :D Thanks for the laugh! Well, I've been having a tantrum for about two months now. Tears included. It has been very painful. Sorry you all are experiencing this too.
