  1. Congratulations. I found eating a small snack and juice before getting out of bed, I kept saltines in a baggy on my nightstand and in my purse. Oh, and cinnamon rolls were my bff.

  3. :grouphug: I like the idea of the card too, but I wish people could be kinder without prompting.
  4. I can't really speak for others as to why they keep it a secret, but my guess would be that they don't truly know how long the adult child will live with them, and may need the money at some point. Something might occur like retirement, illness, or loss of job etc, and they would need it. Taking it and saving it (secretly) allows the parent the flexibility to return/gift it or to use without feeling obligated and guilty. And of course their adult child may suffer from any number of things and actually need help saving for the future one way or the other.
  5. I think what you mention sounds reasonable to me, and I'm a softy when it comes to my family. We do pay for our adult dd's college, she lives here rent free, does not pay for food, she is on our medical insurance, but extras are her's to cover like a phone etc. I understand it isn't easy to change the expectations and rules midstream, but I think you could work out a plan that would benefit the family. I'm not sure how the economy is where you are, but here jobs (even part time - low pay) are very difficult to find and more so for young men and women.
  6. Eggs, peanut-butter, cottage-cheese, yogurt, milk, nuts, cheese, hummus, beans, and smoothies all have protein and can stretch a budget. I raised on meat-lover and one vegetarian and I have no idea how it happened. My veg and meat-lover were fed the same diet, but dd just one day stopped eating meat. It took me years, but eventually I gave up trying to get her to eat it.
  7. Oh wow, I love it! I would try some mouse or hair-wax on the front for an occasional up-do.
  8. :grouphug: I hope she just needs a visit to the vet and a little TLC.. (I love the name Lily.)
  9. Congratulations! Some people just enjoy saying the mean-thing. :iagree: Congratulations, is always the correct thing to say when someone announces a baby. I love the idea of letting them find out on their own after you are showing.
  10. REDKEN has an excellent line you can purchase in a lot of places; the gold colored bottle is awesome and works great for frizzy, damaged, brittle or even chlorine hair. I usually purchase it at Cost-Cutter's and use the punch card or Ulta has it; I've even seen it in Walmart and Target occasionally.
  11. :grouphug: I hope the right offer comes in soon.
  12. I think you can expect a few days to hear back, esp if they aren't local. That said, I see no reason not to put in another call.
  13. Our post office has automatic doors, but I wouldn't expect anyone to hold a place in line for me if I held the door open at a smaller one.
  14. :grouphug: You poor thing. Hopefully the jeans will fit again in a day or two and this will be your last cycle. Do indulge in some comfort food and something comfy; jammies are my choice for period days.
  15. I think with a note and you on campus to quickly take care of any accidents, would be very easy for them to accommodate him into class.
  16. I would involve the professionals, but I think keeping her tomato-staked (aka...Kept next to you at all times.) would be worth a try; that way you could immediately respond to her and not be constantly on a fear induced adrenaline rush. I wish you peace, it sounds exhausting for all of you.
  17. Nope, he is still way creepy and horribly inappropriate; he could have at least waited until after the service. I'm sorry that must have been an additional burden on top of your grief.
  18. I think they look very feminine on women. I say go for it, hair grows back if you don't love it.
  19. :grouphug: Apply for unemployment no matter the reason for the job loss, and definately no matter what his employer said.
  20. Aquaphor, Lip Repair by Eucerin is pretty good for chapped lips. It's fragrance and preservative free for anyone looking for that.
