  1. :grouphug: I agree with inviting grandma over or taking her out to lunch for a pleasant visit. One strategy I'm learning is to turn the invitation around and allow them to find an excuse for not driving here.
  2. http://donnayoung.org/forms/planners/grade.htm This link will take you to Donnayoung's grade card templates. They have Word and PDF documents you can open and go. hth
  3. I don't use canned anything. My recipe is simple and more of a use what you've got in the pantry. Frozen French style green beans, homemade while sauce, dried/organic onion flakes, (fresh mushrooms if I have them) topped with crushed croutons and more dried/organic onion flakes. I always toss in seasonings. No matter how big a pan I make, there are never left overs.:001_huh:
  4. :grouphug: Colic :grouphug: It does end. We walked a lot, drove around, darkened the room and listened to music. It ends, but it's torture until it does.
  5. Toilet, tub and cleaning the baseboards. White...all three are white. My next house will be the color of dirt, top to bottom.;)
  6. Snort...:iagree: My youngest sister is still waiting for big-bangs to reappear. And shoulder pads are a must!
  7. :iagree: But check out thrift stores like Goodwill. I found a wonderful machine there for $14 and it's a heavy workhorse.
  8. Land's end will custom make jeans for you. You can call them or shop on-line. I feel your pain and now always purchase extras when I find a pair that fits. Lee has short, regular and long lengths available at Walmart, and other stores.
  9. :iagree: (MYOB Momma always said...Mind your own business;) I channel my mom and secretly laugh while thinking this. Smile, bless their heart and move on. Now if my dh or mom or a few respected others mentioned this, I'd take it to heart. People who don't matter or I know have different expectations, life styles and a willingness to go with flo...Ehh...what ever.
  10. What is most important to you and what message are you sending to your children? Lessons or activities? Simple question, many of us struggle with.:grouphug: fwiw...Here....lessons are done daily as they would be in a traditional school setting. ymmv
  11. This is what I did here. My dd can even graduate early if she wants, but this has offered us more flexibility. I graduated at 17 and wasn't immature...However, I wasn't really ready for the responsibility and many distractions of college either kwim?
  12. I begin by layering up in pointelle silk long-johns from LLBean or Land's End. Thick socks, fuzzy slippers, pants, a long-sleeved T or turtleneck and a light weight fleece jacket. On super cold days a scarf and gloves..occasionally a knit hat. A small box-fan heater is a one room option, hot-tea or coffee and letting the sunshine in to warm the place up. My home is big and needs plenty of winter-prep to keep the cold out. Staying upstairs is warmer, but not a good option during the day. Turning up the humidifier if you have one can make it feel warmer as does baking bread. I don't like the cold because it makes my body ache.:willy_nilly: We don't even keep the temp that low during the winter, but it feels cold if I'm not bundled up. My mom sent a bunch of crocheted and knitted blankets and they are wonderful. I'm thinking about asking her to knit a snuggly type one, but can't imagine how uber-crazy that would look.:D
  13. I hope her fever is down. Poor kiddo, and mom.:grouphug:
  14. :iagree: Our PC purchase last year was to hand-down our 5+ y/o laptop to my high schooler and the laptop was only purchased to get rid of the biggest monitor on the face the earth. That thing was old and took up so much room on my desk.;)
  15. I would ditch the crib and make the necessary safety changes..eventually you'll have to go through the transition anyway.
