  1. What brand flooring are you working with? I'm just starting to consider flooring options.
  2. Check to see if the attorney general of your state has a healthcare fraud hotline.
  3. I grew up with Spitzbuben, Pfeffernusse and rum balls and I've always made them for my family. Spitzbuben, which is a cookie with jam sandwiched in between almond shortbread. My recipe is similar to this one, except we don't do the cutout and ice them with lemon glaze. I usually make Pfeffernusse after Christmas, as I'm the only one who likes them. Rum balls Chocolate Revel Bars Lemon Bars Cranberry Caramel Date Bars Refrigerator Potato Rolls from Betty Crocker
  4. I have two that I got at the Bass outlet store and keep one in the house and the other in my van. I live in the midwest and I'm never been cold in those hats. I live in the midwest and only pull them out during the coldest temperatures because they're so warm.
  5. Sending you hugs. Having an inflexible person under the roof was hard at the holidays. Minimizing surprises helped a lot here. There were a few years where we made a list together, shopped together, wrapped together, and stashed those gifts in the individual's closet. We couldn't control what happened at school or with relatives, but we could ease a lot of it.
  6. I have two types of underlayers--a thin base layer and fleece. On really cold days I wear the fleece and I'm rarely cold.

  8. I have heard of campuses that are very accomodating, but it was such a let down. When my husband took her back, he stayed in town for a week to help get her settled into a new dorm room (with an elevator and close to the bus stop) and make sure she could physically make it to classes. The one thing that did work out in her favor was that she was able to do her physical therapy on campus as they had a PT program. She had excellent treatment by a therapist who had worked mostly with dancers prior to being hired by the university.
  9. Start looking into this as soon as possible, because my daughter had surgery for a meniscus tear at the start of 2nd semester. She went back two weeks after the term started and found out the hard way that support on campuses range widely. Universities apparently don't have to provide the same level of support for someone with a temporary condition in the same way they're required to for persons with disabilities. We wound up having to get her an electric scooter--the big kind with a seat. She schedule changed to some online classes and dropped the one that was difficult to get to, which also had a less than helpful prof. She was able to keep one or two in person classes, but it was rough. @Jann in TX Praying for your daughter, and wisdom for doctors treating her! Feel free to message me if you want more details about managing on campus.
  10. I'm not sure where you're located but Kroger and Jewel Osco both carry them. I ran into the same problem in fall looking for plastic 3 ounce cups I needed for a lab. Walmart always used to carry them.
  11. Growing up we had mostly candy and if we had other items, they most often weren't wrapped. When my kids were small and very early risers, I started wrapping every little thing and include some items to keep them occupied. They could come out early and take the stocking back to their bedrooms and have at it until a set time. It made the start of the Christmas day soooo much easier for everyone. Now I include mostly candy and wrap nothing.
  12. Giving someone cleaning supplies for a Christmas gift is super risky, unless you know for certain they wouldn't be offended.
  13. Truwhip has several varieties. https://www.truwhip.com/
  14. I bought my kids Anker USB chargers for phones and electronic devices. It's really fast and they could recharge quickly when they were back in their dorm rooms. This is the updated version of what we have: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Anker-Adapter-PowerPort-MacBook-dp-B07ZCGYP27/dp/B07ZCGYP27/ref=dp_ob_title_wld Also some basic tools, including small screwdrivers that work with electronics.
  15. We like Nantucket Cranberry Pie https://barefeetinthekitchen.com/christmas-cranberry-pie-recipe/ It's not really a pie and I'm not sure it will fit the light requirement , but a small slice is satisfying.
  16. Maple sugar candy Oat milk or other vegan chocolate - maybe cut it up and wrap in colored foil?
  17. Thanks everyone. I'm going with the Speed Queen. I do appreciate all the input and information, especially on the brands I hadn't considered.
  18. Thanks. Which model did you buy? Yes, this 2019 was the review that has me concerned. https://www.consumerreports.org/washing-machines/speed-queen-tr7-review-top-loader-isnt-laundry-royalty/
  19. Our old front loading Whirlpool isn't worth repairing and I need to find something today. Does anyone have a top loader you've bought recently that you're happy with? I had always planned on buying a Speed Queen as a replacement, but after reading reviews I'm not sure on that.

  21. A classroom aide can definitely be assigned even if students don't have IEPs. If the student was doing better in kindergarten, I suggest that your dd not only consult with the teacher, but also spend a day observing in her classroom.
  22. Pioneer Woman Italian Chicken Soup
  23. Pork Tenderloin Spinach Salad The recipe calls for the pork to be grilled but mostly I just roast it in the oven.
