  1. I made this new-to-me stuffing recipe and it was a hit. I added in some good quality wheat bread along with the sourdough. Next time I might cut the herbs back a little and add dried cranberries. https://www.loveandlemons.com/stuffing-recipe/
  2. All my plants have to live high on top of furniture to stay out of reach of my cat. He' a huge fan of Christmas cactus especially. It dangles! And it's crunchy!
  3. Tacos or nachos? We often carry out Mexican food a day or so after Christmas. The spicy food is a nice contrast to the usual holiday fare.
  4. I'm pretty sure yours with the very pointed leaves is a Thanksgiving cactus. There's a picture of each type here: https://www.extension.iastate.edu/linn/news/it-thanksgiving-christmas-or-easter-cactus
  5. I may be the lone voice here, but replaced ours two years ago and I went with not pre-lit. I like colored lights and there weren't many choices available. Plus I like a lot more lights than were on the pre-lit trees available in my area. Yes, it's a pain, but it't a once a year pain. My next tree will likely be a downsize so I might reconsider then.
  6. I'm glad it's not a universal problem. Mine was a Whirlpool and it was a not a low end machine, which was why I was so unhappy about it. MIne could handle towels normally, but any clothes that were already wet going in, it had trouble with.
  7. I've had two front loaders and have had the same problems with the musty seal. I did leave the door open and clean it regularly. My front loaders couldn't handle loads that were already wet--like towels that had been used to soak up a spill. It also didn't do fleece blankets well. It would start the cycle fine but couldn't spin out the water reliably. Neither had a cycle to just spin out, it was rinse and spin. I'm done with front loaders. I bought a Speed Queen top loader and will never go back.
  8. If kids will be there, I might add macaroni and cheese.
  9. I would skip the tinsel due to the dogs. Large silver garland would work, as would gold. I wouldn't hesitate to use the red beads--mercury glass beads came in lots of colors. I always think the biggest difference in trees from my childhood is that they didn't have that everything perfectly placed look that trees often do now. They were messier. There are a lot of photos here:https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/photos/1960s-christmas-decorations
  10. I use Vaseline with Cocoa Butter and CeraVe (tub) for really dry skin. Aveeno Skin Relief lotion (blue) when I want something lighter.
  11. I make my chicken pot pie in a glass bowl, with a top crust only.
  12. Try these! Brine bone in pork chops first, then use cast iron in the oven. https://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-cook-perfect-pork-chops-in-the-oven-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-194257
  13. I can handle icing, yeast breads, pie crust, biscuits, scones, and I'm an old hand at the Hershey's chocolate cake (I prefer their Celebration Chocolate Cake recipe). What I'm really inconsistent with is rice. Sometimes I forget to rinse, sometimes it's a little under or over done. It shouldn't be this hard.
  14. Only on Hallmark movies.🌟
  15. I got Moderna last evening. My arm is a little sore and I'm a bit achey but that's it. No major headache or fatigue such as I've had with the earlier vaccine and some boosters. ETA: felt a little warm on that second day and some fatigue. All clear a day later except the aching arm, which isn't too bad.
  16. I have one foot that's a solid 9.5 , and the other is a little smaller and on the wide side. I have another Dansko Mary Jane style in a 39 and it fits fine, but I should mention that I always swap out for a different insole that I wear daily. Even with a good fit, I wouldn't expect them to feel as comfortable as what you wear daily since there's a big difference in cushioning and support between the styles. There's no guarantee even if it works at home on carpeting that they will work equally well on different surfaces. The other Dansko style I wear is a sneaker with smaller sizing, and I'm a 40 in those.
  17. Our house doesn't have a lot of natural lighting, but we have sky lights in a bathroom and the kitchen. I love having them in both rooms.
  18. Not necessarily a product, but an ad for Coldwater Creek clothing online store came across my Facebook page. I thought they were long out of business--which is true--but they are back. I never paid much attention to them when I saw the stores in the malls when I was young, as it always seemed they catered to more mature women who liked nature. Well, now I'm that more mature woman who likes nature 🤣 and I was desperate for causal work clothes. Their garments are pricier than I usually go with, but I put in a good-sized order thinking I'd be returning most of it like usually happens. Instead, every single item fit and the clothes are really soft and seem to be of good quality. Tunic sweatshirts with pockets, gauze blouses, etc. https://www.coldwatercreek.com/
  19. I'm sure you could. It's a really flexible recipe and I adapt based on my needs and what's on hand. I do think it's easier to do at least some prep a day in advance--like use leftover meat and rice.
  20. You're welcome! I think I'll start some from seed this winter as I can never find plants in spring.
  21. This Ozro, Feta and Tomato Salad with a fresh marjoram vinaigrette is nice, but it was a challenge to find fresh marjoram. We added other fresh veggies and chicken after the first day. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/orzo-feta-and-tomato-salad-with-marjoram-vinaigrette
  22. My family really likes these Buddha Bowls. I just use whatever meat I have leftover. Also I just use olive oil in the dressing and double the recipe. https://www.delish.com/cooking/menus/recipes/a50768/buddha-bowls-recipe/
  23. This BBQ shredded chicken is amazing. I skip adding the sauce during cooking and serve on the side. https://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-bbq-shredded-chicken-168003 Sunshine Broth With Frikadelki https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/sunshine-broth-with-frikadelki I make garlic toast in a skillet with olive or sunflower oil, garlic, parsley and a bit of salt to serve on the side with the soup, or cut into croutons to add to it.
  24. My tolerance for caffeine has lowered as well. I've also found it takes about 3-4 weeks to reset my system.
  25. GE Profiled French door, freezer on the bottom. No ice or water in the door. No repairs or problems in 3 years and I've liked it. My only gripe about it is if something spills down into the bottom area, it's pain to remove the big bottom deli drawer and get it back on track again.
