If you wear a mask all day for work - mask rash)
Pippen replied to Melissa Louise's topic in The Chat Board
I have sensitive skin and wear disposable masks all day at school (9ish hours). I do use an extender to get a snug fit so there's no shifting around. I also switch out masks mid-day and at any time when moisture has built up. I haven't had any rashes (though I have had some other issues). My go-to for protecting skin for situations like this is Vaseline with Cocoa Butter. -

Now all you have to do is drop food at the door. Resist entering the room! -

I remember my Opa spreading chicken fat on toast. I didn't really understand until I realized he survived the famine in Ukraine, was released from prison camp severely malnourished and emaciated, and then endured the food shortages after the war. Calories didn't ever go to waste at their house. He worked hard, lived a mostly healthy life until the last years, and then died at age 93.

I haven't made this but I've been looking at vegan recipes and bumped into vegan swiss buttercream. It's odd, but gets good reviews. https://addictedtodates.com/vegan-swiss-meringue-buttercream/ -

I'd totally go for it! -
My current cat loves to chew on cords, and better yet if they're small like earbuds and phone chargers. I can't leave food out at all if he's in the room. He will get into cupboards with accessible food in them, with bread being a favorite. This includes the cupboard over the range. Make sure meds are locked up! No unattended water anywhere. My last kitten loved water and once jumped into a full bathtub. If he found water in a glass anywhere he would dump it out to drink, because it was so much better than the same water we filled his dish with. My cats have all had an affinity for string, ribbon, rubber bands and plants. This includes grocery greenery -- current cat had a vet trip for eating the tips of some leaves from a pineapple. Now I cut the leaves off before bringing it inside. 🤢 I keep a pet taxi out in our main living area and put him in when I'm answering the door, during meals, when repair people are here, etc. He's not in there a lot, but I'm glad he has a place he's used to being when I need him there.

If he's found a confortable place, I'd just let him chill. I'd have the person who was going to do the most caretaking choose from the list of names.

Here's the info from the ISBE and IHSA websites. It looks like there's a lot more to it than just filling out paperwork as it requires enrollment at the ps and the district granting credit towards graduation for the homeschool curriculum. There are also game day attendance requirements and teachers in Illinois verify academic eligility on a weekly basis. ISBE https://www.isbe.net/Documents/homeschool-faq.pdf 14. May a home-schooled student participate in interscholastic athletics through his/her district of residence? Public schools have no obligation to make extracurricular activities, including athletics, open to students attending private schools. In addition, many Illinois public elementary and high schools belong to intramural sports organizations, i.e., the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) or the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Both organizations have specific bylaws that limit the conditions under which home-schooled students may participate in interscholastic athletics. Illinois Elementary School Association Illinois High School Association ISHA Most public schools in Illinois belong to IHSA. You can check if your local school does on the directory at the website. https://www.ihsa.org/default.aspx https://www.ihsa.org/documents/flip/Handbook/2021-22/IHSA_Handbook.html (pages 40-41 or 42-43 if you use the search tool)

Some alternatives to call: The county government office - they will be able to tell you if burials can still be conducted in the cemetery, and if so, who would be best to contact. (Often if a cemetery is abandoned it's the township or county that does any bare minimum upkeep, such as mowing.) If there's a county historical or genealogical society, try calling them.

Have you tried chicken baby food (meat only)? Usually I could entice my cat with that.

This makes me think of Stuck Pot Rice, which my kids really liked. I tweaked the spices in the Smitten Kitchen recipe to suit us. I left out the lentils and served with turkey meatballs, and it did really stretch the meat. https://smittenkitchen.com/2014/02/stuck-pot-rice-with-lentils-and-yogurt/

Thanks for asking. Yes, he's much improved. He slept through the night. The pain is gone, and he's just got a little light sensitivity left and he's tired. He's laying low indoors today. I'm so glad we went in -- both for the treatment and so he was seen while he had symptoms. He has an appointment with a pcp on Monday.

Thank so much for your feedback--I'm glad we went in. It was a migraine, but it's been 5 years since his last one and this one lasted longer and was more intense. They treated him with Reglan and Benadryl, which helped, and then hit it with Toradol and a muscle relaxant. He's doing much better, but he's sleeping here so we can reevaluate when he wakes up in the morning.

Thanks, we're heading into ER.

One of my kids currently has a migraine, the kind that impacts vision and being able to function in a big way. He saw a neurologist and had an MRI a few years ago, and since it was infrequent the doctor suggested treating with Excederine Migraine. It started last night and he was fine when he woke up, but it kicked in mid-morning and hasn't improved. He put a call through to the doctor but it was late afternoon and he didn't hear back. If he goes to prompt care or ER, is it likely that anything will be done for him? Or should he ride it out and wait to hear from the pcp tomorrow?

I'm on my feet much of the day at school and in addition to other issues, I have tailor's bunions. I'm on my feet much of the day. I wear shoes that feel good and have good support and am beyond worrying what they look like. I also have one of these anti-fatigue mats up in the front and it helps a lot. I have them in my kitchen as well. And I agree--I'd ice 3x a day and get totally off those feet for a few days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S8M5SQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

To help set the mood, I suggest printing off pics of Colin Firth strolling around Pemberly and slapping them up around the room. Or Matthew Macfadyen if he's more her style.- 24 replies
