What is your experience with Beautiful Feet?
SonshineLearner replied to Nancy Ann's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Which is funny, because wasn't it in CO that they weren't allowed at the HS convention because of the secular content of their books?? Poor company can't win :( -
Can I share my excitement?
SonshineLearner replied to Miss Peregrine's topic in General Education Discussion Board
That's so exciting!! Congrats :) -
How long are you guys going for? I'd board him :) I know a great place ;)

Well, When we had our co-op we did SOTW over a 6 year period. (1st-6th grade) Then we had MFW for Highschool (Starting with Ancient) We went round and round about what to use for Jr High/7th&8th. We used something but we really weren't happy. There was literally NO curriculum that came close to a American History curriculum that made us happy. I would have LOVED a curriculum that had American History with some other history intertwined as appropriate with great maps. :)

A Sunday Chat
SonshineLearner replied to Jean in Newcastle's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Well Jean... it'd be fun to be on your porch!! :) Hey Bee... bet they're Cutco... You'll love them and buy more!! :) Wait till his commission % goes up and then ask for a bit of a deal ;) I'm only drinking water :) We went to Olive Garden and got reseated to a better spot, because they had cramped us in a small spot. Bonus was no crying child at the next table. I was able to be with my brother, dad, mom, and my family. (Minus my daughter who is in MI with her Bio-dad) I'm waiting for Baseball season for my 9 year old to be over... about 5 more games. Seriously I feel like it's been all baseball since April :( I'm hoping for a sunshiny week with air conditioning to keep me cool :) My favorite Super Hero is Wonder Woman!!! :) -
I can feel a drink after the first few sips... I just don't drink enough not to... I'm about 130lbs so I also think it's something about weight, too... maybe...

Asking for prayers for Julie in MN...
SonshineLearner replied to Heather in VA's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Left a note for them. Thanks for letting us know... -
Mmmmm.... maybe it's not. To me, when I pay a ton of money for classes and then over $200 for the performance, I can't think of it as funny if I can't properly hear.

Cursive is suppose to help brain development. I taught my son cursive before I'm teaching him to print. Oh well... maybe if the schools are going to teach one and not the other, they'll choose cursive in a few years. Funny thing is, they don't really make the kids write a certain way, anyway. so print and cursive usually end up looking horrible :(

Yup, I'd be seriously irritated. I'd think you rude if you said those things TO the lady, but you're just kinda venting to us :) I pay close to $1500 a year for my daughter to dance... I wanna see those 1.5hrs without a baby or toddler screaming. I don't understand why people who have littles don't get babysitters... Seriously.... I think there should be ushers to come and ask parents to take their kids out... I mean... I understand that babysitters fall through... but that's not what's happening. It's become customary to bring babies/toddlers to places where they really shouldn't be :(

Terrible News, please pray
SonshineLearner replied to thescrappyhomeschooler's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Oh how incredibly sad :( Prayers for their poor family :( -
Well, I guess the bottom line is parents who care, can produce children who learn. I think that's true of our children who are in school and our son who is at home. I also think it is MY responsibility to know whether my child can read and comprehend well. That's just the difference between a diligent parent and one who's not. I do think that each family needs to choose what they believe is important for their children to learn and measure what their child is learning in whatever environment they are learning. And... that ALL children are home educated for part of their day.... :)

Ughhh! I'm sooo fat!
SonshineLearner replied to mom2agang's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Well, I don't know how much you have to lose... if you're still nursing.... and all the other factors that figure into losing weight. For me: Once I start wanting to lose weight: Pick jeans that are tightish... Stop eating sugar. Pick proteins to eat... Eat tons of vegetables and some fruit... Drink water No diet drinks... (no artificial sweeteners) Walk some... If you can think of some healthy exercise.... do it. Also, if you're nursing... nurse away!!! Use this time as a "get the fat sucked out of you" thru nursing!! :) -
Well, I didn't feed formula and nursed till almost 3 and almost 5 with my kids. I gave Avent Bottles to them from when they were little... just like the ads, I could switch back and forth whenever ;) Have someone try out an Avent bottle when your little one is hungry but not starved and see if it would work. I always had a couple or more days of milk stored in my freezer. If you start now... I think it'd work. I also fed a little rice milk when I wanted some extra milk ;) I also had a few times when I had 3-5 days of not nursing and then just started up when I came back. Depends on how much your baby loves to nurse. Mine would have kept going till college ;)

Do you have the choice of placing her in 2nd grade instead of 3rd? I would do it either way, if my child wanted to learn the language. I'd also expect some tutoring to get everything stable. Within a year, hopefully, she would be fine :)
