  1. We are 5 episodes in to Leverage and love it :)
  2. Do not like. I also live in regular flip flops in the summer. My birks are softened up but they always give me a sharp pain in the top of my right foot within about 5 minutes to the point that I end up taking them off and going barefoot. I dopnt have this pain with anything but the birkenstocks.
  3. This is amazing and no MSG: http://store.nosoc.com/joes-stuff-9-oz/
  4. I have trifocal glasses but contacts are not, just astigmatism ones. I just add a pair of drugstore reading glasses when I need to read up close and I really like the contacts better this way. they are fine for computer distance and everything really but up close stuff.
  5. Local here :) Kinsa is right, it can get in the 20's at night and snow in June, so have some cold weather clothes with you. It's getting warm a little early here this year, in the 60's already all week, but then this morning, it was 40 and snowing when I went to class. I was there in August and even then, it was in the 30's at night. We slept in sweat pants, wool socks, long sleeved shirts and low temp sleeping bags. You mentioned not wanting fires, but if you are up at night, and first thing in the morning, you will really appreciate them adn they sell small bundles of wood in teh campgrounds. Keep the food locked in the car at all times unless you're actively putting together a meal..not even little snacks in the tent. You asked about hikes. The long route around Norris Basin is a little over 2 miles, mostly flat, and the landscape there is pretty amazing. Parts of it look like they could've been a Star Trek set :) Take plenty of water with you wherever you go though, as the heat is really dry and will get to you before you really feel it. Have a great trip! We've done Yellowstone when ours were younger and had a blast! ETA: Take sunscreen!
  6. I have Voluminous too and like it. I also hafe Maybelline's Full and Soft and Cover Girl's Lash Blast Volume - all waterproof. I wear contacts so being really waterproof and non-flaking is a must. I like all these but they all give a different look. The Full & Soft is more natural, the Voluminous is more of a 'big' look. I think the Cover Girl is the best all around in between look.
  7. I will be 53 in June and finishing up me 2nd BS this summer, starting grad school in the fall. My husband is also in school. OUr youngest is now 11 but was 9 when I started back and I love it. Make sure you can be okay with a few dishes in the sink or a house that isn't Good Housekeeping clean :) We keep ours neat and uncluttered but deep cleaning...eh...it gets done when it needs it. You mentioned your age but you are young :) And to quote Sophia form the Golden Girls...when she mentioned going to law school and Dorothy commented that she would be 96 when she got out...she said "I'll be 96 anyway!" :)
  8. TGM, I could've written that post (well except for #7). Our kids have decided we are the cool parents. And as Susan posted above, I am so glad mine aren't little anymore. Hubby and I were just talking about that not long ago and commenting on how much we enjoy our teenagers (and 11 YO).
  9. Check hidden corners, closets and behind any furniture that is up against the walls.
  10. I read so much 'heavy' stuff and academic stuff that often I'll read for Stephanie Plum novels and get lost in them :) It goes in phases though. I just devoured Robert McCammon's Sings The Nightbird and have started on teh sequel, Queen of Bedlam. They aren't especially heavy but they are both looooong - like 800 and 700 pages respectively - but great stories.
  11. We had one rotary phone on the wall in the hall - and it was on a party line. Very few even know what those are any more.
  12. I am stuck in the middle..LOL. I am over 50 but in classes with kids who are the age of my kids. So...history classes where we discuss things that happened in teh 60's and 70's....and Me and the prof are the only ones who were alive and recall them as they happened :) It's weird though because I still look so much younger than my friensd from college. So many have white (or no) hair.
  13. That's pretty amazing but I've heard from others that their customer service is really good.
  14. I thought of you yesterday Patty Joanna. I have a TWSBI 580AL on its way to me to add to my growing collection.
  15. I love Montreal Steak seasoning. I've even been known to break open a pack of Good Season's Italian dressing mix and use it dry to sprinkle on stuff. It's awesome on roast in a crock pot.
  16. I tend to open the spice cabinet and see what jumps out at me that day. Rosemary is a favorite as is basil. Mrs. Dash's table blend is great, as is any garlic and herb sprinkle. Also, Chef' Paul's poultry magic is, indeed, magic :)
  17. Some links for you: Goulet pens: gouletpens.com (Check the blog and their Fountain Pens 101 area. Brian Goulet does great videos on just about anything pen related) The Gentleman Stationer: http://www.gentlemanstationer.com/blog/2016/2/6/25-resources-to-jump-start-your-pen-addiction (this has lots of good links to introduce the FP world) http://edjelley.com (Lots of reviews) One thing to keep in mind - if he is going to be a cartridge user (instead of bottled ink), some styles/brands use proprietary cartridges which may have limited colors, while a lot will use the international standard ones that are more a one size fits most cartridge and can be found in just about every conceivable color.
  18. I tried it and it had no effect at all. I've also read that the hormones can worsen the problem. I can't way whether it did or not in my case. Mine were bad enough, and causing such issues, that they had to go.
  19. we've been using the LCD bulbs for about 2 years too and the soft white is a lovely warm light. We also have am epileptic in teh house and those spiral ones are a weird blue and flicker way too much. It was like bad fluorescent lighting and was awful.
  20. I had...four fibroids. The smaller were about orange sized and the largest a little bigger than grapefruit sized. I had it all removed but kept the ovaries. They did a low horizontal incision for me. This was August this past year....get this - 3 weeks before my classes started :) But even with it being abdominal, I was able to walk to class and back when school started and it's 1.75 miles..almost 2..depending on which building I got to. I'm SO glad to be over all the insanity of flooding and exhaustion. One extra good thing...I am/was very prone to restless legs when my iron is low and since the operation, I've had no problems.
  21. Checking with the school is a good idea. Here, they provide us with Office 365 free. I've tried Libre Office, Open Office, Gdocs, a few others and none seem to format my formal papers as well as MS Office, as much as I hate to say it. The one thing that drives me nuts about Word is STILL the lack of tabbed document browsing. I routinely have several open and they all open in separate windows. I finally caved and paid for an add-in that lets me open them in tabs. You'd think that as popular ad tabbed browsing is Microsoft would've added this by now, especially when some of the free options have it.
  22. I am currently working on a heavily cabled afghan with Lion's Heartland and it's a lovely yarn - soft, great colors and is working up beautifully. For worsted weight, it should be labeled as 4 (weight)...unlike the yarn you posted that has a 6...even if the yarn doesn't specifically say worsted, that will tell you the weight of it.
  23. We have one of those flashlights in ours too and it's really useful.
  24. Good conditioner (my hair is dry)! Also, I use a spray gel , Got 2 B Kinkier. It does a great job of keeping the curls the texture I like and doesn't weight down my fine hair like most gels do.
  25. That's so true on the color front. I had a friend who was salt & Pepper when she graduated high school. My grandmother was snow white at 40, but my mom is 83 and is only just now getting a few grey strands mixed in. I have no grey yet but I think I'd rather have white than grey. I"ve always wondered why some get white and others get grey.
