Faith-manor
It is not how I pictured it in my head. I can not frost nor pipe at all. Just no talent for it. The little moose cookies spread soooo much when they baked. They are gingerbread, and the dough was chilled overnight, and still they spread so they are too big. It looks terrible, but after 3.5 hrs of being hunched over at the counter fussing, and fussing, and fussing to try to make it look better, I am done in. It is what it is. The green roses in the picture are in a vase behind the cake, not part of the cake. Despite my aching back, I need to go bake the last batch of cookies.

Corbster98
I am sorry you worked so hard and are not pleased. That is so frustrating 😞 I still think your cake is adorable though! and I am sure it is yummy
KungFuPanda
I think it’s cozy and sweet. I love it. Also, you can eat the evidence. Have you tried leaving the room and looking at it from a distance. You may be just too close to the details to see it’s overall charm.
Catwoman
Well, I was going to say it looked pretty good other than the green roses, so I guess that's a big thumbs-up from me! 😁 (Seriously, take another picture without the roses in the background and add a little more light to get rid of the big shadows and I think it will look a lot better to you!) Katy
Hobby Lobby has cake decorating classes. Or at least they did before Covid. I took them back when I got marred because I couldn’t find a GF baker. I ended up going for a style not taught in the class, but it was helpful anyway. marbel
Actually, I thought the picture in your post was a picture of how it was supposed to look, and I was looking for your "bad" version. I think @Catwomanhas a good idea to reframe the photo without roses and with better lighting.
Faith-manor
I will try to take a picture in a few minutes. It is on a 3" thick, cherry wood slab. Very, very heavy. I need to move it to my island now that I have it cleared of all the cookie dough stuck to it. But, I am afraid to move it alone. Mark ran to the store, so I feel like I should wait for his help. Ya those roses! 😂😂😂 The brunekager cookies are cooling and waiting for me to put them away as well. Mom_to3
I actually think it looks great (and, more importantly, delicious!) - except for the staging. Ha, yes, please don't drop it! I really shouldn't look at all these dessert threads...
LinRTX
I love your cake! We are always our own worse critics. And frosting and piping always look good on bought cakes because they do it constantly! You did a great job!

Kareni
I don't think the moose are too big, those are simply small Christmas trees! It looks charming, @Faith-manor; I hope it tastes delicious. Regards, Kareni

Faith-manor
Thanks everyone. I will try to get another photo tomorrow. Before I could do it, Mark had it moved and covered with a 5 gallon bucket. He loves it. But he tends to be my most ardent fan club member so one should not take his opinion seriously. 🤣
