Ottakee
Almost all of the school districts around us are closed tomorrow for a snow day...actually it is more of a recover from the ice storm day. It IS mid April. Next week we are supposed to have temps in the 60s which will be glorious.
Ottakee
Yep, welcome to the great lakes area. Not uncommon to use heat and AC in the same day, wear shorts one day and have snow the next, etc. At least next week is looking better. Baseball mom
Usually by this time of the year we have some cool days (and chilly baseball nights) but not like this. We had snow the other day and it is below freezing right now.t Crazy Weather
Rachel
My parents had a full on blizzard on Friday, the interstates were closed down in most of the state. They live in South Dakota so cold and snow in April aren’t that uncommon, but a blizzard where you can’t see the house across the street in the middle of April is unusual. We have snow in our forecast today but highs in the 60’s and 70’s predicted for the rest of the week. I live far enough south where we don’t always get snow in January or February so this is quite unusual for us.
J-rap
We got almost two feet of snow over the weekend -- crazy blizzard. So done with this!
BlsdMama
Ice and snow yesterday, a wind chill of 12 here today. It's unbelievable weather for mid April here. We should see 50 by Friday then hopefully spring is here to stay. But I thought that last week when we nearly hit 70. I have one very sick doeling and this fluctuation in the weather is doing a number on her in stress. :(
City Mouse
Where I live, we generally get our last snow on the first weekend in May which also happens to be when the Cub Scout pack has its end of year camp out.
Selkie
My horse vet was out this morning and said that the death rate for new calves is very high across the midwest because of the cold. :(
medawyn
I am over winter. I remember commenting to someone during our unseasonably warm October that we would probably pay for it in the spring, but I'm not thrilled about being correct. Ugh. Ottakee
We decided to enjoy the snow day by visiting the local botanical gardens where they have a butterfly exhibit. It was very fitting as we had the funeral for MIL on Saturday and she loved butterflies.
KungFuPanda
I’m bitter. I gardened on Friday and Saturday. I think it hit the 80s. I was so happy. On Sunday we woke to the heat clicking on because we had every window open and the temps dropped so drastically. I actually saw snow flurries dancing about between the raindrops. So now I’m that crazy lady trying to cover my newly planted periennials and hoping they survive. We have a field trip to the national arboretum tomorrow and I’m going to need a stupid coat. LifeLovePassion
We got about a foot dumped on us over the weekend with blizzard conditions. A lot of schools cancelled today.
mamaraby
Saturday we had sleet and little balls of ice falling from the sjky. Topped that off with wet, heavy snow on Sunday. First you had to shovel the heavy layer of snow. Then, you had to scrape the icy bits off. Today is the second time soccer practice this season was cancelled because there was snow on the ground. While we can get snow into May, it is highly unlikely. Average snow fall for this month is just over 2”, I think we’re at 6” so far. I’m so over this weather. SquirrellyMama
I took a screenshot of the extended forecast to see how much it differs from actual. I'm so sick of winter. On the way to pick up my dd from the ACT I saw 6 cars in the ditch. Kelly
Rachel
This is the parking lot at my dad’s office today. I’m not sure the official amount of snow but the bigger problem around there is drifting.
theelfqueen
Where I live, March is usually our snowiest month and snow into April is not unusual at all. And if there are snowdays left to burn, they get them for a LOT less snow than it would take to cancel earlier in the year ;)
YaelAldrich
I live in Boston just off the Boston Marathon race course. It is still pouring here in buckets and almost freezing. Took a raincheck (lol) to watch the marathon this year. I feel so bad for those running it this year....
mommyoffive
This is crazy here. I can't remember it ever snowing this much in April. We are getting more this week and then temps in the 60s early next week. I wonder how the plants will take this. Also do you think animals the migrate are messed with at all in this?
