A gas station with a very strong cult following.

But sincerely, if you pass a state with one, stop. Plan on at least 20 minutes.

Yes - you definitely have to stop, even if you don't need gas or a snack!

Yes, there are many Buccees exclusive snacks, and it's a great place for BBQ etc.

Wow, I’ve never heard of anything like it. And what states are these in?

Originally Texas but now they have expanded into Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee.  Maybe other places.

They're in Ohio now, which doesn't help Krissi, but has stopped my SIL from nagging us about sending packages.

Good Morning!

Happy Monday!

And Happy Presidents Day!

I've been to a Buccee's once.  Yes, very clean.  I didn't get any snacks because I was still gluten free and didn't want to bother.  Also, I played the damsel in distress when I couldn't get the hood of my van open to check the oil.  The employees were very helpful.

Nurse Daughter is giving us instructions by text.  Tylenol and ice packs on pulse regions.  If her temp isn't down in a half hour we are supposed to go to the ER.

Is your dd's fever coming down?

Good morning!

I got up early to take Little Pup out to potty and then went back to bed for an hour or so.  I know I actually fell asleep because I dreamed it was snowing and I was trying to get a picture of it out the front door with the beautiful fall leaves on the tree that is no longer there but the storm door kept fogging up.

Anyhoo.  Dd15's temp is 99.something. Dd17 has lost her voice but is feeling much better overall.  I got the trash bin out to the curb.

Coffee!

I have been fairly useless today except for bringing dd17 to the Depot of Homes for sand, pebbles, and rocks.

On the other hand, I made good use of the "slowing down" function on YouTurb to learn this song and make a rough transcription.  Nola is his little girl. 🥰

Good morning!

At some point today I will probably run to a store to buy dishwasher detergent.  Also dd17 wants glowsticks for the scout campout this weekend.  Dd15 is still sick in bed.  I may get started cutting and hemming my fabric.  Or at least cutting and pinning it.  Also I need to repair the tent now that I have the Tenacious Tape.

Imma see how much of Nola's First Dance I can remember.

Coffee!

Well, let's have a hula. This one is in the kahiko style (chanted in Hawaiian, only Hawaiian implements used, as opposed to more modern styles that might use piano or guitar or accordian. Really.) Also, some of the movements the dancers do is the reason that the lifespan of a professional hula dancer is three years.

Friday Eve!!

School for some, work for others.

Yesterday shortly after I brought the girls home from school Baby starts screaming and crying. She comes over and shows me and there’s this huge chunk of metal hanging out of her mouth. She could hardly talk and couldn’t close her mouth. I tried not to freak out (this is hard for me, because I have a tendency to freak out), but I called the orthodontist and yes, fortunately they were in our town yesterday (they divide their time between offices). I had a hard time explaining things to the lady on the phone, so I gave the phone to Baby and she managed to explain the situation. We went in right away, and the first thing the nurse said when Baby opened her mouth was, “what did you do????” Fortunately, this time she had only been eating a piece of bread, which is legal when you have braces. Anyhow, they fixed it in a short amount of time and we went home. I have no idea what that was all about, but I was so thankful it happened in the afternoon and when their office was in town. I don’t know what we would have done otherwise.

Good morning!

Our phone service is out, so ds29, who is down for the count, is communicating through WhatsAp and dd17, who is driving to tutorial alone for the first time, is communicating through Slack.

Dd15 is still in bed with a fever.  Ds19 so far has not gotten sick.  Fingers crossed.  He's the only person in the house without any medical insurance, so I am praying he stays healthy until we can get that figured out.

I decided to finish the hem with the herringbone stitch because the whip (it, whip it good) stitch was worse.  The herringbone is not too bad.

Coffee!

Rain is here - just a gentle drizzle.  My phone got service again and I called the government and the lady got us all signed up.  It was so much easier than talking to medicaid or tenncare.  She knew exactly what to do and it only took a few minutes.

Fri-yay!!

School and work!!

The girls basketball team at my girls’ school made it to the Valley PlayOffs, and the school is taking a rooter bus to the game today, so the girls are doing that.

I am driving up to the mountains to see a couple of families. I haven’t seen them since before Christmas because of weather issues, but I am excited to see them today.

Got a cut-and-color yesterday afternoon, so now I am pretty again.

Good morning!

My face is starting to twitch due to Things being brought to my attention this morning which I should have been told about weeks ago.   Deep breath.  The kids have been instructed to unload the bags of rocks and sand from the van so I can go to the grocery store.

I passed a presidential candidate's motorcade/police escort on the way to rehearsal last night.  They shut down the highway for a bit.  This was a much more common occurrence when Al Gore was vice president, I think.  I don't know why they don't just take a helicopter.

Morning, Happy Friday.   Except this Friday is a sign that my week off is almost over.

I did get a lot done.  After feeling like I was sick, it kind of seemed to be more allergies after that one day.   The weather is screwy and really messing with things around here.   Things are blooming but molds/mildews are cropping up below the snow so I'm getting it from both sides.

I took dd to open a bank account yesterday.  She wants to start doing commissions for her art.   I gave her all the warnings about online transactions.   Then I went to MVC to get my car inspected.  It passed despite the big crack in the windshield because they don't check anything except emissions.

Laundry day. Woohoo.

Tomorrow, a friend is moving in to stay with us for...an unknown length of time. She is my age...actually, she's older than I am, and because of a series of unfortunate events would be homeless if she were not staying with us. We all hope this works out.

Dd15 hasn't had a fever since yesterday morning, so if she feels up to it, I told her she is OK to go on the scout campout this weekend.  It's car camping only 10 minutes from home, so nothing terribly involved.

Ds29 is still running a fever but ds19 and I are OK so far.  Not sure why I haven't gotten sick yet but I'll keep my fingers crossed.  There is a lot going on in a week and it would kinda stink to get sick and have to miss things.

We're having hashbrown breakfast casserole for dinner

I’m back. Made it up and down the mountain. Had some delightful conversations and the drive was gorgeous. Much better than sitting in front of my computer all day, which I hate.

And back from the AFSA. I hate that place, too.

The girls are back from the basketball game. Their school’s girls basketball team won Valley in their division, so I guess they move on to something else.
