Favorite Read-Alouds for 6 yo Girl

Recommended Posts

I read to my son all. the. time. Dd just isn't as interested. She does love the Ramona books, which she listens to every night on her iPod. She doesn't seem to like animal stories as much, unless there is one out there about very feminine animals. She is very girly, but I don't think she's mature enough for the American Girl books (we tried the Caroline book and she lost interest). Any ideas?

Pippi Longstocking was a HUGE hit here! DD has also enjoyed Wizard of Oz, A Little Princess, Little House in the Big Woods (and the others), Charlotte's Web, All-of-a-Kind Family, and Alice in Wonderland.

There are LOTS of great girly stories out there! Hope you can find some she enjoys :)

I'm reading Milly-Molly-Mandy to my 5yo DD right now. Adorable. We've also enjoyed some American Girl books, the Catwings books, and I'm going to try The Hundred Dresses next. Planning to try Betsy-Tacy, some Little House, and some Ramona at some point after that.

My dd is 6 almost 7, and her fav's this past year have been: Mr. Poppers Penguins, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle {and Sequels}, Bobbsey twins {I got the vintage ones free on kindle}, Boxcar children, the highlights chapter books, Flat Stanley, Fancy Nancy chapter books, and Berenstein Bear chapter books.

Also anything off the Sonlight list for Core B or Core C has pretty much been a hit.

Thank you for posting the treasuries! I just purchased a used copy of each! We needed some new bedtime read alouds! :D I think these will be great for both of my daughters!

My 6-year-old DD LOVES Gooney Bird Greene. We were able to download all of her audiobooks for free from our library's online media site.

She also likes the Little House series.
