  1. I have a 6th grader and a 4th grader. They are both using MUS after multiple curriculum switches to find one that my oldest meshed with. I know, I know. Should have stuck with Singapore a long time ago. I’m not sure if I could even jump in there at all at this point, but I am desiring to work on their problem solving skills. I’m not sure I would want to switch them now back to Singapore. My youngest might could. What could I use to help work on problem solving skills alongside MUS? Or is MUS not enough? My oldest seems to have hit a sweet spot lately. She’s flying through. We did a quick run t
  2. I keep hearing varying reviews about this. It definitely worries me about Pre algebra and up. I’m not sure what else to look into though.
  3. I have a 4th and 6th grader. We switched both mid-year. My oldest needed it the most as she has struggled for years. She finally feels like she is accomplishing math and without tears. She probably could have started in Zeta, but we started in Epsilon to make sure she was strong in fractions. It has gone really well. She is almost done with the whole book now after switching in January. My youngest was a little harder. She already knew long multiplication and had just started long division. We jumped in with Delta. I just have her use the algorithm for long multiplication problems. We wi
  4. They didn’t report our group, nor did they contact us to share their wishes. We might have gladly changed our name had they taken the time to contact us. Obviously they took the time to search our pages and block us. They didn’t report our group because they know that what they are saying isn’t true. It’s sad that a supposed Christian company would behave in such a manner. We are clearly not pretending to be them. It’s outlined in our group description that we are moms and not affiliated with the company at all.
  5. Here is the screenshot of where they announced it. I’m not sure if it is still up. They referred to groups such as ours as knock off groups. 🤦‍♀️
  6. Well, that's not what this is exactly in reference to. We confirmed that resale of physical books is not against their copyright. Also, we already now that selling pdf materials are not allowed. I'm an admin of a MB resell group on facebook. It was named as such and very apparent that we were not affiliated with the company at all. All the admin realized that they were blocked from the publisher's facebook group. We originally thought it was because they were trying to prohibit resale at first. Upon inquiring with them, we were informed that we were blocked because using their trademarked name
  7. I would rather not get into it too much. Basically, they have blocked admins of several unofficial resale and discussion groups that have their name in the title or description (despite it being clear that the groups are unofficial). They did this with no warning or request for us to change the group names. I spent a lot of money on their products. The least they could have done was message us and let us know it was an issue. Instead, they are standing on one post made in 2019 saying they repeatedly asked people to not use their name. One time is not repeatedly-especially since they have hundr
  8. Their programs have their purpose. I will no longer support or recommend them though due to some disturbing policies they have going on right now.
  9. Totally AGREE! They only want feedback if it’s glowing.
  10. So I received clarification and can share pictures later. They informed me that they repeatedly asked admins to not used their trademarked name. They expected us to see one post out of hundreds of posts a day. They never contacted us directly, but they did certainly seek out our names to actively block us. Our group description clearly states that we are not an official “Master Books” group. I’m appalled by how they responded and the lack of apology from them. I will never support or recommend them again. My guess is that they have lost sales after the initial hype of their programs.
  11. it would be one thing if any of our admin had promoted our group within theirs or linked anyone, but that never happened at all. No skin off my back since we aren’t using them, but it really makes me wonder about the “heart” behind their company.
  12. They definitely don't allow it on their group, but blocking the admins of the other group just happened within the last month. The wording has definitely changed since I last looked.
  13. Here are some of the rules on their group I found after having to log on to an old facebook account because they blocked me. I had no clue it had happened until someone asked me about the group. And one more.... I'm disturbed that they appear to be actively looking for people to block. I promoted this company to so many people. Not anymore.....
  14. I would love to know because I just found out they booted all the admins from a MB Buy/Sell/Trade on facebook.... I am one of them and had no clue until someone asked if the Moms of Masterbooks group had shut their group down. I couldn't find their group on my account, but mshanson was able to find it on hers.
  15. Ha! We were the ones to buy this unit and find tons of incorrect and poorly worded statements. Granted, my 12 year old knows more than most on the subject of marine biology, but these mistakes would have been easy to catch with half a brain. They were the kind of things that would stop you in your tracks and make you really think for a moment about what you just read (and not in a good way). I’m glad I bought the one unit for one reason entirely. I no longer have to wonder if the grass is greener. Unit studies very much intrigue me, but my work schedule truly prevents me from executing on
  16. I really don’t even know what to say in regards to this. I read this to my husband, and he is equally appalled. It’s almost scary to see so many people falling in line behind this lady. Their poor children!
  17. Her Facebook group has over 7,000 members. So many people are being pulled in to this new, shiny program. I can’t lie. I bought the oceans unit. I could use it as an amazing jumping off point. No way would I use it as a stand alone with only math added. I also wouldn’t use the majority of her student pages. It does make me feel more competent in designing my own unit studies. 😂 If you search Youtube, there are tons of people reviewing her program and singing its praises. I wonder how many of those people are “writers” that Submitted units to her. 🧐
  18. Thanks, this is good to know. I'm planning to try to do math year round with them just so they don't forget things.
  19. Thank you! This is good to know. I could see her moving through certain lessons much quicker than others. I probably should have started her in Zeta, but I felt like Epsilon would help her with truly understanding math more, so here we are. She's learning a ton from it though and I'm seeing some number sense kicking in finally. She'll be doing pre-algebra by 8th at the very least I plan to have her finish Epsilon before 7th.
  20. Can I hear some reviews from using MUS with high schoolers? My oldest really struggles with math. Spiral is just overwhelming for her. We have finally found our groove with MUS now that she is halfway through 6th grade. Is this enough?? I'm hoping it is because neither of my girls want to switch now. I just want to be sure that we are doing the right thing.
  21. You sound like me. It’s also year 8 or us. I don’t need a box either, but I work from home and it makes my life easier. It helps me not have to plan and helps them know exactly what is expected of them. Win, win for us. Lol!
  22. It’s that time of year! I didn’t see a thread, so I’ll get it started for us. I can’t believe my baby will be in 5th. These years can seem long, but they truly do fly by. Here are our plans! History/Bible/Science/Art/Poetry: Heart of Dakota- She’ll finish up Preparing and move into Creation to Christ (likely near Christmas-we switched mid year). Math: MUS Epsilon (maybe even Zeta depending on how quickly she works through this) Grammar: IEW Fix it Book 2 (maybe EIW 5 as well) Writing: Either Essentials in Writing or an IEW topical book (haven’t decided yet)
  23. It sounds like it’s exactly what I’m looking for then. I don’t want heavy grammar. I prefer it being learned in the context of learning to write. Thank you! They have both done some grammar. I’m not a fan of super intense grammar, but they’ve done mostly Growing with Grammar over the years. This is my plan! Thanks!
  24. Any reviews on this program? Do you find it to be enough? My girls are in 4th and 6th.
