LinRTX
Does anyone know a good manual can opener? I have now had 5 in the last 5 months and none of them will now open my cans!

Trixie
The Oxo Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener.
BikeBookBread
Try this: take a sheet of waxed paper, and "open it" -- it cleans the blade surprisingly well, or well enough to get that can open so you can go to the store and buy the OXO one! (It's GOOD!)
Leanna Tomlinson
I've had my Pampered Chef can opener for over 5 years and it's still working great. It's also much easier to use than cheaper versions I have used in other's homes.
LaxMom
The Oxo Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener. I've had one of theirs for about 10 years (not the smooth edge - it appears they no longer make the one I have) and it hasn't failed me yet. I just toss it in the dishwasher and was remarking about how clean it is to my husband not too long ago. We both grew up with gnarly, dysfunctional, botulism fest can openers. What were our parents thinking?? :ack2:

AngieW in Texas
I really like the Swing Away brand. I'm still using the can opener I bought right when we first got married 20 years ago.

WiseOwlKnits
I love my Pampered Chef one too. MIL got it for me. I don't remember how long we've had it exactly, but I've had it longer than my daughter and it's still going strong. Now, watch, it's going to break because I said something good about it. ;)
LauraGB
Okay, I have to agree with the Pamered Cheffers. Although, I must admit, that it took me several weeks of pure frustration to figure out how it worked.

Kim in TN
I've had my Swing Away for years. It still works like new.
Shelly in the Country
I really like the Swing Away brand. I'm still using the can opener I bought right when we first got married 20 years ago. I have one of these. Best can opener ever. I'm still using the one I bought to go off to college with. I've bought "spare" can openers over the years and nothing compares to the Swing Away. Are these still sold anywhere, because I can't find one?
DarlaS
I have one of these. Best can opener ever. I'm still using the one I bought to go off to college with. I've bought "spare" can openers over the years and nothing compares to the Swing Away. Are these still sold anywhere, because I can't find one? I recently bought one at a local hardware store. Try an independently owned one like True Value. I have a suspicion they're not as good as they used to be though. Mine is fine (works great actually) but I can't see it lasting twenty years. I hope I'm wrong.
catalinakel
One of my most common sayings over the years is, "we can put a man on the moon, but can't build a decent can opener." I may have to try pampered chef.
