  1. You could check out the TOG Forum also... a lot of people post used book packages there... Best wishes!!
  2. :iagree: -- besides Christmas isn't about the # of gifts under the tree...or at least it shouldn't be...;)
  3. I came home from grocery shopping the other day to find out that my 10 yo son had used my Pampered Chef Kitchen Shears to cut a hole in the top of a can to make a piggy bank. :w00t:
  4. I bought a Sterilite Box at a dollar store -- I think the # was 1962 at the Sterilite website. It is perfect - although I don't think I can get all the cards for 6 levels in it...
  5. We started seeing snowflakes around 4 - 4:30 this evening. Now it's snowing pretty hard...looks like we're supposed to get up to 5" before tomorrow AM. We couldn't resist the urge to throw a few snowmobiles...
  6. We had chop suey. (made with sauce previously made and frozen) YUMMY!!
  7. :bigear:... I have a 13 year old with the same issue. I could punish "til the cows come home" and it makes ABSOLUTELY no difference. She has lost priveleges multiple times; had things taken away; etc. I could talk until "I'm blue in the face"... The only thing that seems to get through to her, is when I say "I can't trust you. Until I know that I can trust you, you will not be allowed the priveleges that come with being a teen." (cell phone, internet, staying home alone...) and these items/priveleges are taken away for a week or so -- pretty soon after being returned, she does it again. I'm at the end of my rope...
  8. Yes, I've seen them and I've looked through them...I have some of each kind. (Alpha through Zeta - old style; Pre-Algebra and up - new style) For Alpha through Zeta, the biggest reason I see to purchase the new style is for the hardcover -- they are much more durable when used for multiple children...*IF* you don't need the step-by-step solutions. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've taught 3 children these levels without the step-by-step solutions and have never had a problem that I couldn't figure out. I definitely would purchase the new style for Pre-Algebra and up...for two reasons: 1) durability and 2) step-by-step solutions (upper level math is a totally different beast than +, -, x, / or fractions & decimals) They're beautiful -- very well done...I just don't think they're necessary for the lower levels. My 2 cents...
  9. That is a *really* good idea...hadn't thought about getting a head start over the weekend. OK -- this also makes sense... We were doing the History CORE, History In-Depth, Read-Aloud, and Literature...and *sometimes* we'd do the Church History. How do you decide? How often? Do you do every assignment? I bought Evaluations and Pop Quiz...but really haven't used them. I just don't know WHEN to use them...or how. This makes sense...I could see us "stretching" a TOG week out...just hadn't thought "outside the box" I guess. ;) Please, everyone, keep the ideas flowing...I'm getting excited about TOG again!! :)
  10. I have both versions...and here is my "take" on it: I've only splurged for the new versions if it is an upper level class. (Pre-Algebra and up) I figure if I can't explain multiplication and division, etc. then we're in more trouble than I thought. :tongue_smilie:
  11. What level are you using with your son?? (I had my oldest, 16, doing the D level work; my 13 yo doing some UG/some D level; and my 10 yo doing LG -- because he struggles with reading.) I've *NEVER* done the discussion questions/script/thing...I *think* that's what I'm struggling with. I just don't know how to implement it with 3 kids at 3 different levels...do I do 3 separate discussions or lump them all together?
  12. Thanks Suzanne...what you said makes sense. I think I'm just "wrapped a little tight" and feel this overwhelming need to do it all...or it's not a "complete program". KWIM? I guess I just need to hear that it's OK not to do *every* chart/graph/etc. and that my kids will still learn something... "BUMPING" for more input...
  13. We bought our son a junior-sized set a few years ago. It is "Rockwood Jr." (not sure if you're looking for a medium-sized set or not...) We got a "killer deal" just before Christmas at a local music store. Unfortunately, my son has outgrown them and now we have to find them a new home.
  14. I'm in... Started decluttering last week after MIL moved out but I've got a ways to go... Starting in my office area...then the new school room... Be back later to update... This is FUN -- and I need accountability!!
  15. Tapestry of Grace. I already own Redesigned 1, 2 and 3. I have a lot of the books... The only year plan that I successfully completed was Year 3 and I'm convinced that I only got through it because I was part of a co-op...maybe it is an accountability issue. IDK... I like the *idea* of it...I'm just not sure how to implement it and not totally overwhelm myself and the kids. I don't know how to break the assignments down into "doable" chunks...we take so long getting through the history and literature assignments that we never get to do the fun stuff like activities/crafts. Could I just assign the reading and have the kids do narrations, maps, and timeline instead of all the questions & charts, etc? If you have any advice for me, I'd be eternally grateful...
  16. I sew a little...where would one look for a pattern? :bigear:
  17. I have been given a highchair...it didn't come with a pad/cover. I have tried contacting the manufacturer and they don't make pads/covers to fit this model any more. Where can I find a replacement cover? (We just spent about an hour and a half searching online...) Thanks!
  18. Thanks!! There were a couple of things I wanted in the Christmas catalog but didn't want to spend extra $$ just to get free shipping. ;)
  19. Lane Bryant...we went yesterday and they are having a "Buy One, Get One 50% off" sale. They have excellent sales staff that will assist you in getting a good fit, etc.
  20. That's good to know...our vacuum died this past week and dh bought me a new Kenmore Intuition today. I've never had a Kenmore before...but so far it works GREAT!! I can't believe what it picked up that the Shark didn't...it was SCARY!! (Good thing I picked up an extra package of bags!!)
  21. Yeah, I never understood spending the big bucks for nails...:001_huh: My MIL goes every 2 weeks for her fingernails...and once a month for her toes. (and this doesn't include the extra trips for a polish touch-up or a repair if she breaks a nail) It's scary to think about the $$ she blows...:w00t:
  22. It was NOT my intention to go out shopping today...however, when the washer/dryer *AND* the vacuum died a slow death this week, I knew it was inevitable. :glare: I hate crowds...
  23. Well, we hit Best Buy and Sears today...Best Buy was sold out and not offering rain checks. So, we ended up buying the Samsung set for $998 + tax...it really was a toss-up between that and the LG...it came down to the fact that I just liked the design of the doors on the Samsung better. They will be delivered on Monday!! We didn't get the pedestals because it would make them too tall to fit under the shelves in the laundry closet. So, dh is going to BUILD me a riser!! (much cheaper any way...) :hurray:
